I think the CPU load is about the same. However, I have noticed a small problem. Granted it only happens on really big tracks. The CPU load will spike after about 50 instances or so. Now, why is that exactly? Is that because after xx number of channels the console would be so amazing that world would implode and because of that my little machine cannot handle it?
Just curious 'o course. ---- nox ad umbras lucem misit. |

Just curious 'o course. After XY instances cpu's speed approaches light's speed. So the chip becomes energy, and there is not enough material cpu to take care of computation A more technical answer is: I don't know, but we'll improve it more and more |

Very interesting! The 4 consoles all sound quite different, can have a dramatic effect on the mix. Quite the update! ---- ![]() |

So are you liking it? Note: mix into Strip! Don't add it like an added effect. |

OK, so here's a quick mix with Solid State Console B on all tracks, and Solid State 4k Bus Comp on the main bus:
http://i.minus.com/1332029278/p8Ly4aMG__sBxhXrYRkM8w/dmZmG3G QZ1CsA.mp3 And here's the mix with the console off: http://i.minus.com/1332029289/eJHgDxXOICEXXJ4xyLaWYg/d3voT1n JeJlog.mp3 Quite dramatic difference. Of course, I mixed into StripBus from the beginning, so that's unfair to the unprocessed version, but it gives one the idea of the sonic character of the board. I love how it clears off some of the digital "fog" (as I call it). I found drums easier to mix, frequency-wise; the bass was getting away from me, but I'm still getting used to it, will take some time. The CPU seems quite high (in Cubase, anyway). But the good news is: although it was pinned around 60-80%, I could still add all the effects I needed. The other mix I tried had...90 tracks, and the same thing. It's fine, it's a mixing tool, not a live-performance, realtime kind of thing. So yeah, loving the new update, Quinto! Glad we figured it out! ---- ![]() |

A more technical answer is: I don't know, but we'll improve it more and more Anyway, I remember reading somewhere that Stripbus is based on a 48 channel console. If that is the case that might be the reason for the affinity of about 50 channels. That or my computer simply cannot handle that much awesomeness. I haven't figured it out yet. Regardless I still love this plug. If you manage to load it just so, it will literally saturate in the most pleasing of ways in that it just seems to enhance everything. My notes on the models: A Tube Console - I've actually spent the most time with this one. It kind of removes the apparent bass of a track, but it will most certainly pass sub info. Be careful with the levels on this one. It is very easy to overload it and make it sound bad. B Solid Console - This one is kind of cool. It has this thing where the highs & bass seem accentuated while the mids get scooped a bit. Plus it adds a bit of volume. Gotta watch the HF build with this one though. It is so clean that they can be piercing. This one isn't nearly finicky about levels as others though. C Solid Console - Character up the wazoo on this one. It has a very dull top and it sounds like the bass is coming from a broken tube or something. Basically it is kind of a wonderful Mid-Fi (not quite Lo-Fi but not Hi-Fi either) that will just work well on some tracks while not others. Seems to handle level about as well as Model A IMO. D Tube Console - Not a whole lot of character on this one except for it is like a cross between the first two models. It is very clear but is again very sensitive to level. But unlike Model B it doesn't really exhibit HF buildup too bad IMO. Also, the bass is a little less present as it would be with Model B. So, yeah basically a cross between Model A and Model B. I won't even get into the crazy enhancements done to the EQ either because I haven't used them all yet. But "Par Air" on a reverb send = GORGEOUS TOP END! ---- nox ad umbras lucem misit. |

Good writeup APZX. Nice name also, APZX is one of those words you can try to pronounce loud on a bus or train. Works as well as trying to read sentences backwards. People will think you're quite insane I love the proxy bass eq ...... i love everything about stripbus ---- Mulab-MUX-Diversion-TX16Wx-SKNOTE-Charlatan-Valhalla-GordonSmith-YamahaTHR10-Trackspacer-TheDrop/Glue-Drumaxx-VOS-DC8C [i5 2500K @ 4,3GHz] [8Gb DDR3] [200Gb+ SSD][M-Audio Delta 24/96 PCI] |

@bduffy: that's impressive... great comparison, too
@APZX: good description, similar to what I have in mind. A note: in console D the bass is less processed sonehow, so it is more "free" and less "pumped". Could sound stronger on some sources. @Crackbaby: do you mean like adding it to the host's mixer? I've been thinking about developing a mixing console, but it is such a load of work it would kill everything else |

Quinto is OK, at least he was when he sent me my copy of Grasso a couple of weeks ago Strip and Bus are the same plugin - in a sense that Sonimus Satson is the same plugin despite being two plugins. There's a console strip, and a bus compressor - all in one plugin. So yea, it's out and rocking since its first release back in whenever - it seems like i've been using it forever and a day already... ---- From Russia with love |
