You mean you tried to modulate one of the knobs (either the attack, decay etc) of the ahdsr 1 with the ahdsr 2?

When you move any knob, you have in the upper section how much you are moving it... when you modulate the depth of something that is modulating the coarse tuning, it says how many semitones will modulate... sometimes it's percentage... I don't know in this case, but I guess in the case of a Decay (or Attack Hold and Release) it would say how many seconds (or 0,something seconds, ms) and in the case of sustain would be on percentage...

Or have incoming audio control the osc.. like a pitch follower.. i see folks doing it with that moogerfooger and the korg ms-20 vst..

Great idea,... could get some really interesting sounds from that, beyond vocoding,... have a filter controlled by the lead vocals bus !! Love

First post here. Hello!

I'm just getting into this synth and wouldn't want to see too much changed as it's simplicity (given it's power) is what I love about it. One thing that it could use though would be crossfading when looping audio. But please don't lose the brilliant simplicity of this synth. Can you tell I like it? Smile

I think Alchemy is a great synth, and I'd like to see increased functionality & sound quality out of the sampling side of things.

If it means paying more for increased sound quality/oversampling options, along with high quality multi-sampled instruments, I wouldn't hesitate a second. Perhaps ability to read Rex files or other file formats.

Samplelord.com's extreme sample converter is a pretty neat tool (http://www.samplelord.com/index.php?page=exsc). Perhaps a "light" version included.

And use of sampling scripts as well, so I can use it more as a bread and butter rompler. It would be great to use it as an alternative to Kontakt, because it has so many more sound manipulation tools...

I think waveform access would be pretty neat for increased sound manipulation control.

Lookin forward

Jon

I read that you tally requests, so here's my request:

- drag and drop samples to import them, instead of navigating via the browser

that's really it for me Smile

okay one more

- better management of loading multiple samples into one source

It's a PITA right now to change key and velocity zones if you import several wavs to one source. I don't know what "better" looks like exactly, so that's on you…but I can say that Ableton's Sampler is really really nice in this regard, and Battery 3 is okay.

keep up the good work =)

k two more (though I'm hoping people will tell me it's already possible)

- restrict random patches to samples from a particular bank / folder. I want to create a template that when I generate a random patch, it looks for _my_ samples rather than any of the included ones (or ones that came from banks). That way I can get alchemy's auto-magic goodness on my custom samples

- smooth transitions between morph pads when using MIDI input. I love being able to "play" the morph pad. I'd love it even more if I could modulate how long it took to morph from one pad to the next…via knob, midi velocity, whatever. Like OhmForce's Melohmann feature

(please someone tell me I can already do both of these Smile

Improved sampling and resynthesis algorithms are part of the Alchemy v2 spec, along with more import options, easier methods of importing and mapping samples.

This isn't possible in v1.x but we'll probably add the ability to load users samples with random preset template in v2. There is a workaround that you can use in the mean time ...

1. Quit Alchemy
2. Rename Samples/Factory as Samples/Blah
3. Rename Samples/User as Samples/Factory
4. Start Alchemy

Random presets will now load sounds from the renamed User folder. Save any favourite random presets as you go. Rename the Samples/... folders once you've finished. Alchemy should find the correct samples in the User folder when you switch back, but you may need to re-save the patches to update the files. It's not ideal, but it will do what you want.

Yes, this would be very cool ... something we'll consider for v2.

Peace,
Andy.

Hi,

Many things can and will be improved in V2, but the absolute priority for any music instrument is the sound quality. More transparent resynthesis in additive and spectral modes is expected, as well as better samples (see Motu MachFive 3 for example). Of course, it's not mainly a question of bit rate, but in 2012, a professional sampler or synth based on samples must be shipped with 24 bits samples, even if we can debate endless about the real difference with 16 bits.

But again, I've never got such a funny instrument as Alchemy. An everyday pleasure.

Cheers.

I love this synth and I've just started digging deep with the additive synthesis side of things.

It would be great if you could 'sync to tempo' the breakpoints of the MSEG in the additive edit window. Curves in the MSEG would be nice too.

This is an amazing piece of (virtual) gear nonetheless....

What about ability to load other VSTs within Alchemy and inserting them into Alchemy's workflow between the various modules of Alchemy? That would be truly awesome.

Hi,

This is probably impossible. But CamelSpace+CamelPhat could be combine in a marvelous Alchemy FX Plug in, with unlimited chaining capabilities...

Well, if DDMF can do Metaplugin, perhaps it is possible! Outlandish on the surface of it, but perhaps possible, regardless. HiHi

As directed by Andy, just leaving a couple of suggestions for improvements.

1. Sort out the zoom on the sample edit loop point display so it doesn't make the waveform disappear from view when making small adjustments to the locator bar at the bottom.

2. Make the loop/start/end/warp and MSEG markers easier to separate when they are on top of each other.

3. More accuracy in the sample edit display so we can find loop points without having to use an external editor ? (bit cheeky this last one but WTH)

Cheers, IAYF

This is already present in Alchemy, just grab a line that is at an angle and pull it. Very Happy
