In general, interaction with Alchemy is pretty nice. However, there often times when I would like to just type in a numerical value rather than fiddle with the mouse.

For example, when I turn a nob, it would be nice to have it 4.00 seconds, not 3.99, then 4.01, then 3.99 again, etc. I just want to type 4.00.

Especially when in the additive editor, dragging the bars up and down is intuitive, but a real nuisance for keying in precise values.

Been messing around with Izotope's new synth Iris and I'd love to see one of its main features in Alchemy.

Iris is a spectral synth much like the spectral synthesis in Alchemy but the big difference is that Iris has a mask that goes over the graphical display that lets you select which parts of the sound you want change the volume of or filter out completely, all without affecting the original spectral waveform.

It works sort of like layers do in photoshop.

I would love to see this in Alchemy.

This is on our short-list for Alchemy 2.0 - it's quite a popular request.

Also on the short list, something I really want to see.

Yes that does sound very, very useful. I'll make a case for v2, but can't make any promises as the list is quite long now Smile

Peace,
Andy.

I know it has been requested to have sequencers be the target of modulation. To that end, I was wondering if anyone had looked at u-he's Bazille as a potential source of inspiration? In many ways, it's similar to the way Alchemy currently morphs presets, but what's nice is you can morph through all instances using, for example, the pitch wheel or the mod wheel (or any mod source). It's been an interesting way to work, and I'm sure a similar approach would be awesome in Alchemy.

ZenPunkHippy, did someone suggest this already, perhaps:

It would be nice if those parameters which change function depending on certain mode or whatnot, would also display a different name for that knob/button/whatever. A good example for this would be source filters. When they are in ringmod mode, they certainly don't have Cutoff and Resonance as parameters! So they should display their proper names instead Cutoff/Res.

I think this is wildly useful, and creates less confusion, makes it easier to remember which knob does what.

I agree. This "fault" (hope it's the right word: "défaut" in French) should be fixed. The global visual feedback could be improved in V2, even if sound is most important.

Yes this has been suggested before. I agree it's confusing, particularly the filter types. It's probably something we'll fix in Alchemy 2.0.

Peace,
Andy.

Yay! Although "probably" doesn't sound so ultimately reassuring. Razz

Sorry if my reply is a bit "middle of the road", but I don't know for sure without going through all our docs and finding out. It's been mentioned quite a bit, so definitely on our radar.

Peace,
Andy.

Most likely a non-issue with you guys, but just to be extra sure: I'd like the envelope follower to be a modulation source for anything. I say most likely a non-issue because alchemy is insanely modulatable as is!!! But yeah I love the envelope follower in FabFilter volcano which I can use as a modulation source for anything in the filter. The big win there is side chaining input so I can use the envelope follower on a different signal. I'd love to see multiple side chain inputs in alchemy so that I can pump a few different signals into there for different envelope followers...would be pretty amazing.

When I say "envelope follower" yes I mean a full modulation source that can be assigned anywhere. Ideally it would also include side-chain input capable of detecting both amplitude and pitch.

But - similar to my previous post - we can't make any promises about this. It's just something I would like to see, as would other users and Camels, so it's on our list of things to consider. We cannot say more than that at this stage.

Peace,
Andy.

I have a request that is probably pretty simple to add:

Swap Source.

You can copy sources which is great, but when you have 4 full sources and don't want to save a source having a swap source option would really be useful, just like how you can swap remix pads.

Thanks.

Sorry if this has been said before, but will Sound Sources be available as Modulation in A2? It would be a really easy way allowing FM and AM synthesis, along with very many other cools things.

Maybe something like
Modulation>Audio>A, B, C, D, Filter1, Filter2, Mix
