I think unlike almost everyone else the bright verb is my favorite (I like that trailing sizzle, especially for FM sounds), but the new mode is doing something to the stereo positioning that I really like. Stacking LV-426 with a high pre-delay on top of Bright Room is my favorite reverb sound maybe ever.

THANKS!

BTW, What reverbs are c** and S****x ?

Thank you!

LV-426 is a "Dark" mode, but if you set the LATE HighXOver to a high frequency you can get some of the "sizzle" that Bright Room gets, with less coloration. Both Bright Room and LV-426 have algorithm characteristics that can result in high frequencies hanging around for a long time, if you want them to. Bright Room was always one of my favorite of the original 4 modes, and Dark Room was largely based on Bright Room, but with a simpler output structure and more "darkness" introduced.

Since we're talking about it, what are people's favorite and least favorite ValhallaRoom modes? Don't worry about hurting my feelings. I can take the truth.

For example: I'm not much of a fan of Medium Room at this point. I was trying to do a Quantec Room Simulator-esque reverb with Medium Room, but I don't think I succeeded. If I could go back and remove any of the modes, I would kick this one out in a second, but I'm sure that other people make use of it.

I still really like the Large Chamber mode. It is the highest CPU mode, but it does what it was intended to do, which is to generate a high density reverb that works well on drums, without any particular sense of room dimensions.

And I'm really digging the LV-426 mode. This might be due to the fact that I wrote 7 new reverb modes since version 1.0.9 was released in November, and the LV-426 was the only one that made the cut. To my ears, it has some of the nice characteristics of Nostromo (wide stereo image, higher resonance density than Narcissus), higher echo density, and a more subtle modulation that is less likely to randomly shift the pitch of the signal.

Hi folks,

The 1.1.0 (beta 2) update of ValhallaRoom is now available for beta testing for both Windows and OSX. New since beta 1:

- Windows VST32/VST64/RTAS
- Optimized CPU for Windows RTAS and VST32
- New presets from Den (currently in Windows build only - I will migrate these over to OSX in the next build)
- Fixed bug with LATE BassMult causing clipping in LV-426 with very short DECAY times

New since 1.0.9:

- 64-bit VST for OSX
- New reverb mode: LV-426. In keeping with the Alien theme, this is a deep dark space verb. It is kind of a cross between Nostromo and Narcissus, but with a far higher earlier echo density than either of those reverbs. The LATE LowMult/Xover and LATE HighMult/Xover filters have been moved to a location where they act as tone controls. Values of LowMult less than 1.0 allow you to dial in reverbs with less low frequency energy, and the LowXover control being used to adjust the crossover freq of the low cut/boost.

Bug fixes:

- Mono->stereo bypass bug in Pro Tools fixed
- Window resizing bug fixed in Digital Performer

I've sent out a link to the existing testers. If you want to test this for OSX or Windows, send me an email (or a PM with your email address) and I'll send you the links.

There's a Medium Room? When did that happen? Very Happy

Must of skipped right by it on the way down the hall to the large room.

Thanks for the update again Thumbs Up!
I'll check out the new mode asap!

My favorite mode...well...that's hard HiHi

I love long ambient-ish reverbs. I guess Dark Space is my favorite but I also love long and grainy ambient-ish reverbs and Nostromo is really perfect for that.
I like to use a second very small reverb on some more percussive elements as a contrast to that and often use Large Chamber or Dark Chamber for that.

I guess these are my most used modes but I really like them all and all have their uses Smile

I guess this won't help but it's *really* hard to decide HiHi

Cheers
Dennis

I love most of the stuff using Bright Room, especially big stuff like Kingdome and LongModulated. And the new LV426 is simply worth the price of admission.

Speaking of you not liking Medium, one of my favorite presets is HobbsEnd (sp?)

Overall, I'm not crazy about ambience settings, but that's simply because I haven't gotten around to auditioning proper material yet (acoustic drums, or setting up my mics for acoustic guitar).

Also, I noticed you mentioned you cleaned up some settings and stuff in Den for windows (I'm OS X). That's my only real gripe -- Den seems to be a dumping ground of sorts. Why is Nostromo and Narcissus in there but Sulaco has its own area? Why is BladeRunner in there (it couldn't go in Big Spaces?) It's such a minor quibble because there's so much to explore already in my favorite modes that I may not even touch any of the presets in Den for some time.

Alright, beta folks: How are things working? Anyone else want to try the 1.1.0 beta? I'm wanting to release this to all users in the next few days, but I need to make sure things aren't hinky.

Good, haven't discovered any quirks yet. Win 7 64-bit, Reaper 64-bit.

Any 32-bit Windows folks want to try the 1.1.0 beta out? I'd be interested to see how it works for people on Windows XP. I made some changes that result in optimized performance of the 32-bit plugins in Windows 7. It was harder to see the improvements on my Win XP machine, but I don't work with this machine much nowadays, so I don't remember what the old CPU numbers were.

Woah! I just installed VRoom 1.0.9 again to check this. A Large Chamber preset uses 16% CPU here in version 1.0.9 and 8%(!!!) in version 1.1.0b2 Smile

Sorry for not checking this earlier! Busy times Embarassed

I'm using a crappy old PC (PentiumD @ 2.8Ghz) and WinXP SP3 32bit.

Cheers

So I cut the CPU usage of the 32-bit Windows plugins in half. So I've got that going for me. Which is nice.

Very Happy
