probably enough differences to make a true versus thread useless, but maybe thoughts on both to go along with my testing thanks |

Both very good, however my personal taste leans a little more to the 6144 - I've gone off on rants regarding DDMF's fine work here before - just wonderful.
That said, NF pulse-tec is hands down my favorite take on the pultec style eq, sonically accurate in its representation or not, it sounds best to me. |

The PulseTec models a Pultec EQ, the DDMF emulates the NEVE Portico EQ (so does the J1000 PQ33 IIRC).
Two different beasts - apples and oranges really. One is a push-pull tube EQ design, another one a modern EQ with some tricks on it's own. For the sale price atm, Pulse-Tec is a steal. It's one of the higher tiers in terms of Pultec clones. And there sure are plenty on the market. The DDMF one was actually a "joke stab" at the NEVE Portico (sold by Yamaha/Steinberg) if the developer can pull off a similar design/clone it. Apparently it's just as loved and costs only a fraction. Let your ears decide, not your wallet. |

I bought the Pulse-Tec on sale from Ilio for $30 and could not be happier. Really love how it handles the low end of a mix. I just got it last night so haven't played with it very much yet, but on first impression I liked it more than PSP NobleQ, though NobleQ is more flexible. I'm also pleasantly surprised by the Pulse-Tec's limiter. I have Nomad Magnetic and hate the limiter on it, so wasn't expecting to like this one as much as I do.
I also have the DDMF 6144 and I love that as well. Amazing shimmery highs - I like it more than the high shelf from the Pulse-Tec from my tests on the drum bus so far. Hats are smooth in the 6144, and crisp in the Pulse-Tec. My guess is you're going to end up wanting both of them - so if you can only get one right now I would get the Pulse-Tec while it's on sale. |

Apparently it's just as loved and costs only a fraction. yeah, i've been following the ddmf thing ever since the mortgage-worthy neve/steinberg release, but only just ended up demoing it as a simple eq it's great, and i love the highs more than the nomad plug...but i think the nomad imparts more of a character (really digging the mid stuff) which is a kind of plug i'm after i'm not sure i can afford either, but the nomad is at a price that is making me think about it Compyfox wrote: Let your ears decide, not your wallet.
that's the thing...i don't have speakers other than my laptop internals, and the headphones i'm using aren't 'studio-phile'.....i have no other choice at the moment, but i think i can still make out the differences wanted to throw it out there thanks guys |

But the 6144 price is too high? the price is not high at all unless you are short of cash....as i said, i'm not sure i can afford either...the thing is that i can get the nomad factory for 25 dollars till the end of april but the 6144 will remain $29.... if i had the money, i'd just take a punt on both, but seeing as i don't i don't want to get something i don't need....the nomad might be a no-brainer, but if i don't need it.................. if i choose the 6144 over the nomad i'll probably hold off buying it for a while, but i don't want to miss the nomad if it turns out to be great |
