I found that Saurus could sound both very warm and "analog like" or digital and harsh which is both great IMO.

It's also great to work with a synth where i don't always have to fear that i max out my CPU when playing many notes at once or using the Unison.

Ingo

There is analog harsh and digital harsh... You can make sounds on an analog synth that are sharp and piercing and even hurt the ears, but that digital harsh from aliasing is different and I don't personally find it appealing at all.

I also find a synth that uses low CPU enjoyable cause one simply does not have to worry about it. The thing is, the dichotomy is false. There is no reason one cannot have both. Have a regular mode as is for low cpu which is good enough for many sounds. Then have a high cpu setting for when you want to push the synth and for those who value that extra sound quality.

I quite like the featureset of Saurus. I also like its basic character. I wouldn't still be trying the demo if I didn't. But I am just not enthusiastically happy with the sound quality. I can hear that it is a low cpu synth. A few years ago I would have just accepted that as how it is, but now I expect more and have the cpu to handle it and so it just kinda bugs me to have to settle for that.

After programming around 22+ presets with it now I just noticed i reached a new state in my "relation" to Saurus. I am not trying to do any comparisons with other synths anymore and finally i also don't really care anymore which filter models are used. The only thing that matters now is if a certain filter fits better to a certain sound or better a different one. I also found you could get some nice results with the formant/peak filter and i also like the PWM which Saurus could do (opposing to another comment about the PWM in this thread).

Thank you Ingo,

we're looking forward to your sounds!

Ok, look. I'm done. I've reported a bug and have stated clearly how to reproduce this bug. YES, the sync in Saurus is great... UNTIL you change osc 1 from sawtooth! How difficult is that to understand?! I've had it confirmed privately by other users that I'm not just imagining this, nor is it something to do with my computer.

My comments regarding PWM were NOT that it sounded bad, but that I'd have liked more range, because I like extreme wave mods. Is making a feature request a bad thing now?!

I'm not making crap up just to whine about Saurus because that's what all the cool kids are doing! I'm reporting bugs because I like the synth and want to buy it and see it improved. Rolling Eyes

Anyway, I give up. It's obvious my input is unwelcome.

I think Markus is working on all reports/features suggestions currently.
If I remember right someone else reported this issue on the official forum, so I'm sure they are looking at it Wink

Hello Sendy,

please note that we stoped to do support on kvr in 2009. That's why we only come here occasionally.

You can find our support forum here:
http://www.tone2.org/forum/

If you want to contact our support by email you can also write to support[a t]tone2[d ot]com . Bastiaan will answer to you within 24 hours.

We will examine and fix the problem you reported. Please do also note that none of the over 600 factory patches that ship with Saurus uses such a sync configuration to which you refer. I think we all can agree that it's not as dramatic as you descipe it. Wink

Have a nice weekend,
Markus

With respect, I haven't assigned a severity to the problem. I simply reported it, along with my praise overall for the synth. I personally prefer experimental sounds which do not sound so much like the majority of the preset sounds, but require every combination of settings to work as intended. Never once have I made this out to be a show-stopper of any kind.

I'm speaking more of the atmosphere in this thread than on Tone2 in general. I said something "bad" and now I'm one of "those detractors".

Someone PM'ed me on here and told me they'd report the issue, else I'd have contacted them myself.

This isn't the place to report bugs, even if you are just using the demo. As Markus said, just pop the reports on the Tone2 forums and he'll check it all out. Same with feature requests.

For those interested in some more Saurus video material, the Sounds & Gear site just posted a nice walkthrough review of Saurus' features and sounds Smile

I like the saurus synth.
If you want to hear a song with the Saurus as main synth, here it is: "Hyperbolic"

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=4902448#490244 8

All synth sounds are Saurus.
Groove agent 3 makes the drums and Atmosphere are real strings.

There has been an update recently, version 1.1.
Have the issues/bugs people have described in this thread been resolved?

I prefer user feedback Wink

One thing I noticed about the labels, there are few abbreviations, like FREQ or RESO, always without the period. Oddly, they have used two different abbreviations for feedback, FEEDB. and FEEDBA., both with the period. Very inconsistent, not to mention superfluous as there is enough space to spell feedback out. I hate sloppy minds...
