Sampleconstruct wrote: For me Iris is one of the rare Plugs that clicked right away. Usually for me it's a matter of seconds to decide wether a Plug-In is for me or not, I install a demo, open the Plug, quickly check the GUI for grasping the basics and start programming. Iris quickly lead me to sonic places I have not been before. I could have reached those places with other synths maybe, maybe not - e.g. Metasynth is not a midified app so you can't really say how a spectralized sound will behave/sound when playing chords and melody lines 4 octaves below/above the root note until you have exported a wav and imported it into Kontakt or Alchemy. I don't miss the missing features at all, in fact I'm quite relieved it only has what it has, everything else can be achieved with a combination of other Plugs.
Judging from your sound demo, you certainly know how to use it as well! Nice job! |

I can testify that Simon can do that with any synth he touches! The man is very talented in all areas of music imo. His demos that he throws together in minutes sound better than pieces I work on for months! Excellence runs through all his work. ---- Crime in multi-storey car parks. As Sampleconstruct wisely say, I also do not miss at all any features in Iris. The amazing fact is that it leads to creating new sounds in a moment, and this is also due to it simple and intuitive interface. More than focusing on factory presets (as we all use to do with new plugs), I immediately could dive into making lots of patches with Iris, and that's what I ask more from a plug dedicated to sound design.
Dear Simon, I signed up to your annual subscription for Iris presets a moment ago. Once again, I expect to learn more and more from your amazing work of musical talent |

Thank you Simon, I'm collecting lovely Iris patches (and some FM8 very delicate ones) and think I'll soon use them in a simple video, since my music is mainly dedicated to visuals... and Iris is of course "a joy of details" for such a job. I'll post something next week or so |

Dear Simon,
I just tried your patches.... an amazing work of talent, and worlds and worlds of images that come out of it. Far more better experience is to PLAY your work, than simply listen to your great demos. At a very fair price, you always offer the top quality level in sound design!! I hope many will have the pleasure to enjoy your Iris works |

Thank you all, guys - the amount of overwhelmingly positive feedback I'm getting in this thread and elsewhere in the last days is - well - overwhelmingly overwhelming And it sure makes it a bit harder to currently devote so much of my time to composing orchestral music rather than concentrating fully on my sounddesigning activities. Although the composing part is very fulfilling as well...the light at the end of the tunnel is much further away though than when designing a soundset for a given instrument. A 40 minute long orchestral score is just a monster, like climbing Mount Everest. |

is this the Izotope Iris thread or the praise Simon thread?
Just curious. ---- http://soundcloud.com/robertdorschel also check out "Ditty-A-Day 2012"! http://dittyaday2012.wordpress.com/ |

I think Simon is selling a lot of copies of Iris by showing how the software has unlocked his creativity. And it's inspiring the rest of us who own Iris. So they are so tightly interlinked that separating them would cause some sort of fission reaction. |
