Hehehe,
some fun with ableton... so i got the email a week ago and now downloaded from the link contained in the email. No registration code in there, this one has to be generated from a hardware-code ableton generates on the machine. First, i tried letting everything beeing automatically authorized. Fails with Ableton open. Seems ableton is not registered with firefox after install time. Ableton tells me to use another browser. So i changed standard browser and again, authorization fails. IE8 cannot cooperate with ableton. OK, so I go to the authorize website, with the hardware ID at hand. Unfortunately I told ableton to start without authorization in the meantime. It's totally busy installing all kind of library stuff (sorry Ableton developers, but this is meant to be done at installation time and not at first start - at least my opinion. Not really good customer experience to stare 20 minutes at a program that starts, when you expected the installation beeing done already...). Dunno, if it's just me, or maybe Apple folks like to stare at their computers while they are doing all the had work for them. But i'm already slightly turned off. Since I do not want to create an account at abletons web page (with that additional registration you are NOT able to do an offline authorization), I keep staring at the library install...I guess the last Sonar Installation (4 DVDs, much more than ableton lites 1CD size) took less time... Don't get me wrong, I really wanna give this software a chance. I just expected a slightly better customer experience for the first ableton contact. I guess the lite version is meant to advertise the higher versions. Even offline activation did not function as described, the 'open' shell instruction for the authorization file failed (not a valid win32 app). I dragged the auz-file onto an open ableton instance, then it worked. Finally... Best regards, Martin |

Yea that's annoying. It should be done during installation process. Furthermore that library instalation takes too much time for such a job. |

Hi,
I did'nt mean to insult mac users, i just was on the sarcastic side.... Ableton is told to be more on the mac side, developerwise. I am not familiar with todays installation processes on macs, maybe in Mac-world, this kind of installation procedure is standard, on pc the average user is not expecting to have the longest part of installation at the first run. That's all. Best regards, Martin. |

Live has much issues on Mac than PC recently because of the apple's OSX development suckness. |

I am having problems. First my firefox didn't show get this app icon. It took me a while until I thought it would make sense to try opera (it must be some of the addons), now I can't log in with ableton user data. No problem to log in directly to ableton, though.
Get this app gets me to http://www.ableton.com/get-free-live-lite where I instantly get a notice Quote: To get your free Live Lite you need an activation link You should have received one in your last SoundCloud newsletter. If you can't find it in your inbox, please contact soundcloud-lite@ableton.com and include a screenshot of your SoundCloud account.
entering Email and Password does not change anything. Has anyone been through that? |
