"and ED maybe the features in there aren't the ones that the OP may be looking for and he is hoping that they will come in v2. "
Of course there's that.. but then why would he have bought Alchemy in the first place? Seems weird to buy a synth that doesn't do what you want it to, then complain because it doesn't receive new features fast enough. The whole 'must have updates' attitude is a new thing that's come along with the software revolution in music. Not like you'd buy a hardware synth and then expect new features. Sure, sell something if you decide there's a better option but grumbling about updates is pretty lame, not like we're talking critical bug fixes here. To the OP re not being happy with "it's all so complicated and sooo secret" , I think all Zen was saying was they won't announce a release date for v2 'cos they can't be 100% sure when it will be done.. if you work in software as you say then you'd be used to this surely? Honestly, the way you put your posts makes you sound like a jerk, maybe your sig sums up your attitude. |

Good post KBSoundSmith! I'm certainly not running out of creative ideas with Alchemy, but as you say the key is really to start importing your own sounds. Not to suggest that using the VA engine or presets is somehow limiting, but there is an infinite combination of sounds to be had working with custom samples.
Even if development stopped now (which it isn't, I'm just making a point): this would still be the case (!!!). Peace, Andy. |

@Acid Penguin - yes that is basically what I'm saying. Also, it really is a bit pointless to talk about what might be until it actually becomes reality.
Talking about future features raise people's expectations, which places a huge amount of pressure on us (as it does for any software developer). If we can't deliver some talked about feature, for whatever reason, we will be judged far harder than if we say this is what we got when it's actually ready for release. Peace, Andy. |

there is so much that it does already... certainly there is enough to keep us all busy until they release whatever is next. |

From the OP:
I bought Alchemy more than 2 years ago and being used to use it a lot. My picture in 2009 was: "What a great basis and team, close to the users. This will develop in fast steps to the needs of the users". Maybe you are interested in what I'm missing so much, beside the preset management: there is still no A/B switch, midi out, no audio-in osc, and my main pain is the spectral implementation. I'd like to use spectral so much but getting no fun using it in Alchemy. I wanted to avoid getting into these topics as I don't want to discuss details about my favorite feature requests. So it took more than 2 years to enhance the preset management. And I see no estimation if my needed features will come and how long that could take. That is the outcome of this threat and it is what I needed: a clear statement so I can decide what to do next. I already have overlapping tools for sample manipulation, granular, additive (in my usage the main strength of Alchemy), Now I've to fill some gaps with additional plugins. Expectations are different and I see to be in the minority with my. That is absolutely OK. What is not OK: "EvilDragon: I have this strange gut-feeling that OP of this thread didn't explore absolutely all of Alchemy's features" Non- objective, not based on any facts; cheap assumption "Acid Penguin: ...Honestly, the way you put your posts makes you sound like a jerk, maybe your sig sums up your attitude...." Very bad to see posts like that. Sorry that I cannot put it down more flowery, I'm not a native english speaker, it's a foreign language for me. But you should avoid abusing users. ---- ..where the f*ck is my ... |

Bottom line - don't ever buy software for what it might become but for what it is right now. Updates are not guaranteed and free ones are a major bonus. |

I wasn't meaning to abuse you and was quite careful in how I worded my post (I thought). I didn't say you 'are' a jerk but that the wording of your post combined with your sig might give that impression. If you'd started with the post you just made which explains why you are unhappy you would have avoided any negative feedback I think. |

Yes that has been fixed already. Not long to go until the release ... Peace, Andy. Hi Andy, much longer? Last year I have posted to include the next sfz/wav in folder function. Wondering if it will be included in 1.3? Thanks DM |

Sorry about the delay! Our initial time estimate was a little off but we're pretty close now. All of the presets have been tagged, and we're in the final stages of beta testing.
