I'm using a preset called fatso from the electronic bass pack and it is doing something very odd. When I try to add another sound source, just a saw wave from an unused source, and then try to tune that saw wave up a few semitones, the pitch of the other sources follows it. I've looked at all the modulation and can't see any possible way for this to be happening. TBH, as the source I used for the saw is not used in the original preset I can't imagine that any modulation would be assigned to it.

I am fairly confident this is a bug.

I also get bad distortion if I solo one of the original two sources. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers IAYF

Hi,

What you are hearing is not a bug - it's happening because the Morph section (to the right of the sources) is set to "morph xy" mode. When a morph mode is active the parameters for each source are linked (which parameters are linked depends on the source types and the morph mode).

Read the following section of the manual to understand more about how morphing works:

http://www.camelaudio.com/alchemymanual/source/morph/

I think the reason for the distortion is also explained by the morph mode setting, which is causing the amplitude to increase significantly when one of sources is solo'd. Turning down the active source if you want to use only one would help, as would using one of the (HQ) analogue modelled filters e.g. LP2-MG (HQ). Changing the filter type will likely alter the sound quite significantly, though.

Peace,
Andy.

Once again I feel like an idiot Laughing I've been using Alchemy for quite a while now and had managed to completely over look this. Thanks for clearing that up, I'm going to have some fun playing with that now
