concealed identity wrote: Apologies if it was said earlier in the thread (I gave up after all the pics), but Bitwig tweeted about pushing back the public beta due to them decided to include some of the features planned for 2.0 into the 1.0 version.
The reactions to the leaked price info got BitWig scared and they now desperately try to offer more value for money on initial release? |

Oh on a serious note, what a joke. 2.0 features being considered before there is even a version one?
Yeah, I'm confused |

Yeah, I'm confused I don't see why that's a bad thing, as long as it's clearly labeled as not being a feature on release, which they have done. "Multi-user music production over the internet" has me excited, despite when it'll actually be available. |

Ok, let me try to be more specific. What year was it that was the first time we heard of bitwig? What year is it now? That's what I'm getting at.
Anyhow, bitwig w/o cats seems terribly empty |

Four + months with no beta seems a bit odd... unless the beta is the best kept secret since baby Jesus.
Anyway, I expected the conspiracy theorists to be offering explanations by now, like a cease and desist order from Ableton or something. |

I personally don't see what the big deal is, it's not like the lack of release of this thing is preventing me from making music or anything else. When it comes out, it comes out, and I will check it out when it does. |

No big deal for me, I won't be buying it anyway. My interest is mostly cursory, and of course practical, wondering what does one gain (from a business perspective) of announcing something, and showing something apparently actually running, that's maybe not really close to being ready for actual release. So my interest is more along those lines. It looks like a great product to me but if they announce "beta soon" in January and the beta doesn't start for 6 months, it would suggest that something maybe went wrong somewhere. Other than that curious bit, I couldn't care less. I've never had much interest in the Ableton style tools anyway. P.S. Auria seems to be a bit behind schedule also. Now that I do plan to buy. Anyway, maybe it's a marketing thing where the longer you keep people wanting something the more they want it, dunno. |

Yeah, I'm confused Are you familiar with software development roadmaps? Most of the time it's not feasible to put all features in the first release. Carey |

They are hoping to cater to 3 OS platforms
Mac, Windows, and Linux ! That's a lot of coding for a sophisticated DAW I wonder if we will see Bitwig Studio released this year ? or more like 2013 |

The amount of work involved in multi-platform development relies a lot on the development environment used. I'm not sure what environment Bitwig is using but multi-platform builds can range from a simple press of a button to large amounts of rewriting. Carey |
