You are right. Alchemy Will be the tool I'll study. But I got very interested in the spectrumworx plugin too (since its so Easy to apply effects and transform the sound in just a few click), is it released as an au plugin now or still just Mac vst? Thanks!

VST format only http://www.littleendian.com/shop/

any similar plugins that do exactly the same and is as easy to use? this is exactly what I want.

I know (and use) other types of spectral fx, there are some but nope there's nothing like SpectrumWorx in term of workflow and wildness I'm affraid.

I really want a proffessional, creative sound that is rather complex.

HiHi Right.
A 'creative' sound requires creativity, as in self-generated. If you want 'pro' and 'complex' on top, its gonna take a few thousand hours.
Tbh, the tone of this thread makes it seem as if you were not aware of the existence of hyrbid VST effects. Or somehow know this stuff but have no creative drive in one direction over another.
It sounds as if there is big a focus on the finished product.
In short, my advice is do not think of this shit as a destination. There is no "Phew! Finally Im shitting out hit tracks!", for most people.

What?

I guess I'm abit afraid of failing and wasting time on something that won't sound right in the end for some reason.

Uh huh.. Like I noticed above; You are concerned with the product. If you are in this to be creative you should be enjoying it, and that alone should carry you through the not-so-exciting or perfect parts of the production. That should drive you to 'finish' work, regardless of the empirical quality of your final output.
If you are in this for work/business, you should just be finding out what techniques are used in the top ten and copying them. Its a bit simpler for those folks. HiHi
You need to figure out if you actually enjoy making music.

I think I replied to another of your threads with an off the cuff fx chain to try. Here its clearer, and I think rifftrax was on it;
My advice is to search out and acquire all plugs with random buttons.
I will add to it:
That new reverb from Tone2 has a ka-razy random button. Shocked
Thissun- "Warmverb"
http://www.tone2.com/html/warmverb_vst_au_effect_synthes.htm l
I think one of U-He's has a random on it too....

In terms of "Sound Design" = Its a bullshit term which is trying desperately to make proramming synthesizers and possibly then further simply process and/or effect the so called "designed" sound. So just think synthesizer programming and audio processing. Tired of all the audio wankologist terms which are nonsense

Once you have your synth or synthesizer sound or sounds to a point inside the instrument itself you are happy with and have rinsed the built-in processors and/or effects then if you have not already tried this - Go for it: Grab the demo version of Native Instruments' Guitar Rig 5 and throw aload of shit on the wall until something begin to sticks. Obviously there are plenty of other options than guitar rig but it is so easy to route and the stock/factory stuff gives a good idea of what is possible all within a simples to use and sensible/well layed out GUI Shrug

Oh and that term 'Boutique'....AARRRGGHHHH don't get me started. Big Bob 'gets' it and demolishes the audio wankery term which has been in vogue for far too long in the world of guitar amplifiers and even more so pedals:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGy0pPllHVQ

Right I am off now to go and air drum on some empty tins i got laying about, Plus a shit, shower and a shave. I shall record these "designed sounds", Further "design" them and flog the set as 'Boutique Sound Design Master' alter ego of mine at a store which sells women's underwear aka a Boutique Laughing What do you guys and girls think? Plan or what?

Happy synth programming and all the best to all Smile

tone2 filterbank 3 is my new favorite filter plugin. The distortion on that thing sounds soooo good. Distortion + filtering = <3 Also it has a bunch of filter types, two LFOs, envelope follower, and gate. Nothing fancy but definitely enough to get the job done and like I said the distortion just sounds great to me.

I don't have WOW or filterfreak though. I'm jealous of you there Smile imho it would be worthwhile to get deeper into those...

Also if you're afraid of making the "wrong" sound or something that sounds "bad" I'd say you're missing the point of distortion and filtering!

Remember, wrong and bad are judgments. People will judge your music when you share it with them. All the crappy noise you make on the road to creating shareable music, that's yours alone and nobody will hear it or judge it. Personally I get a kick out of making all kinds of hideous noises. I try to keep the good bits for my music.

I don't understand your point nor see how it could help the op. Why universities and schools call their audio programs sound design then if it's a 'bullshit' term? Confused Sorry to tell you that, but the term sound design is a real one, used by professionals & people working the audio industry, no matter what you say or believe.

I would think your friend is a bartender. That's what I've heard the term "mixologist" associated with.

He calls himself a mixologist.
Nothing wrong with that. HiHi
