Demo submissions - best way to get your track onto a big podcast?

Above and beyond the obvious - which is to write a succinct message and follow your 'target's' demo submission policies closely ... what are some of the other ways/stunts you have heard of when it comes to new producers getting their very first track out there and onto a podcast or digital label?

I am talking about this with respect to EDM and house (but I imagine it applies across the board).
