I'm ok with it either way, although my first choice is still Minimogue. Augur seems to work fine with Sonar 7, although I haven't yet tried using more than 3 instances.
Aside from the stability issues, my first impressions of Augur are not too positive. It feels rough, unfinished. More specifically: - The sound is kind of harsh. Is it the filter? Is the actual Prophet VS supposed to sound like that? Some eq seems to tame it (I tried a linear slope of -3dB/Oct, which makes it better to my ears), but still I'm not getting very pleasant results so far. I recently bought the Korg Wavestation KLC, which by contrast sounds great. It's a much better choice to explore vector synthesis (and wavetable synthesis). - No joystick (i.e., XY pad) for live control of vectors. (How can this be a Prophet VS emulator without one? ) - Mod matrix doesn't include all possibilities of source-destination pairs. - Mod source has only one level control, so if a source is routed to multiple destinations, the modulation amount cannot be controlled separately for each destination. - No possibility of loading external/user defined waveforms. - Difficult to edit vector points if they are overlapping. Say points 0,1,2,3 are all at the same point, and I want to move point 0 elsewhere. I have to first temporarily move points 1,2,3, so that I can access and move point 0. - No knobs for setting an overall level per oscillator. - No portamento/legato mode. It's too bad, because this could have been a great synth with some more developer love and attention. |

I know we've had a 2-synth challenge before, but that was before my time and imo the main point that shouldn't be altered is the fact that this is a One-Synth-Challenge so don't think we should have 2 synths now, even if they are not to be on the same track together..
The number of issues this time have been surprising, but there was a notice in the synth voting thread to test the synths and still Augur was the most voted for, and since it can't have been chosen because of its looks For those with Win 7, isn't it possible to run a 32 bit version of your DAW in 'XP mode'? Maybe it will work without the bridge that way? |

Ditto. Forgot to say that for the record it works fine on REAPER here, I can switch waveforms in the GUI endlessly without problems. In fact there are no issues at all, so the problems some have must be related to a compatibility issue, maybe sound card drivers? Try increasing the buffer or even the free ASIO4ALL driver maybe? What soundcard are you using now? |

Ditto. ...for the record it works fine on REAPER here I'm sure it's a WINE problem, changing waveforms works fine in Windows 7 (but other random crashes occur for me there). |

Yeah shame you missed the vote, I would have liked to play with the Minimogue too, it's one of the all-time great free synths although it's been in a few votes already and never made it. |

No, but like you I didn't notice where a synth vote was... not sure where they're normally announced - I guess the general thread? I would have probably voted atlantis, minimogue... not sure what else. |

May i suggest something that might be a bit silly..?
Maybe we could do a sec. round of voting..and only chose between Augur and MiniMogue? The "One-Synth-Challenge 40: Vote for Synth" doesnt say that the synth with most points would be "the winner" right away? But more seriously..since there is only one point that difference those two synths, I think there fair to assume that if people had the knowledge they now have Minimogue would "win". Idk, i think it MIGHT be fair to change it MiniMogue, or do a sec. round of voting. I might be bias though since i dont really like Augur that much, and want MiniMogue to the OSC40 synth. |

It worked well on my "old" XP mashine, a year or so ago, so I thought there would be no problem on windows 7...until I started with the OSC.... I could not have been more wrong But still have no problems on XP |
