This is my first "serious" track, i started producing more serious about 3-4 months ago (unfortunately, i don't have much free time to fully dedicate it to producing) i know i have much much to learn yet, but i really need some advice of people who are better than me. So, i met this guy who owns a label (small label, but gets regulary support from artists like Roger Sanchez, D.O.N.S., Mark Knight and other top producers), and he said to me that overall production is good, but that track lacks that "something", some elements, (not to be mistaken, im aware of that), but simply can't figure it out what are they. So please, give me some advice/feedback what can i add to make it sound better. Thanks in advance!

This reminds me alot of the first stuff I did. A problem is that it is very monotone - and you lack some attention to the minor details. As said by dada life in a video they once did, it's all the little things that makes a track. Stuff like reverbs (some to be added, some to be fixed), compression and EQ'ing. Maybe even your percussion could be a little bit more "playful" and not so standard..
I also miss something "new" in general. All you've done here is pretty much the swedish-house industrial standard. What I can recomend (and tell from personal experience, that this helped me) is go and listen to alot of the tracks you like at the moment - I assume these being stuff like what you are producing yourself. And where you usually listen and enjoy the track, listen more closely to the whole production of it. This becomes sort of an industrial injury along the way though, so you'll have to live with that Happy producing! |

I think it sounds pretty good, its just missing a few things.
For example the build ups need a bit more activity and tension in my opinion. Maybe some air swooshes to keep things interesting. This is the main difference I can see when listening to an amateur producers and a professional producer. It just feels as if something is missing. But it is very well done. |

you got the body of the track down man, good job
like it has been said the little things are really what are gonna make your track go the extra mile; Try using more percussion, maybe an extra snare sound our white noise type hat with every other clap, more effects and again percussion, maybe a good snare roll Risers for the build ups will make it more interesting. Really great start though man. i can stress enough how much good effects and percussion will help your transitions, it'll also obviously make your track sound let generic and "bumpy' and allow for a smoother flow |

hey i really like your track but your melody just need something to push it over the edge because it just got a little boring to me it was too repeating for me maybe add a little variation every couple of bars so that someone says WTF WAS THAT! experiment with sounds and if it doesnt sound good you just change it back but just play around with it cause i like the song but it does need something to just give it that little push over the wall. (im not trying to be an asshole im just giving my honest opinion) |

idk where it is that u can put a track up so that people can give you instant feedback so im gonna put it in this thread.
ok i started to produce about 3 months ago and i have just been trying to make sounds that i like nothing specific. so i made this track. i did the mixdown as best i could ( i have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA on how to do a good mixdown) so keep that in mind. i know that the song will sound alot like harwell's cobra but i really like that song and for someone who doesnt really know what he is doing i thought i should go with a structure i know works until i learn enough to not make a song by tweaking a know and hoping it works. thank you to all who listen or give me feedback and thanks even if you skip my message. have a good day. http://soundcloud.com/kg2600100/9th-dimension |

I can listen only on my laptop speaker, so can't tell anything about mixdown, but i like the idea in general. melody is nice, transitions between synth and electro part are also pretty good. i will give you another feedback when i get to listen to it on some decent headphones. can you tell me how did you do that sliding/stopping effect on 1:52 ? cheers |
