I was hoping Cakewalk had made a Mac version of z3ta 2 but they hadn't but I did notice a Mac version of Rapture so just tried to install it but it won't accept my serial and the error message says something about PowerPC - I can't believe they have not updated it. Anyone managed to get it running on Lion?

I'd contact Cakewalk just in case they may have a solution, but haven't posted it to official support download pages yet.

Please send me a PM. I can probably assist you with getting Rapture working via a hand install via email.

Please post here, if you don't mind. Unless installing Rapture on Lion is strictly on a need-to-know basis. Smile (P.S., I need-to-know, as I'm sure many others do.) Thanks!

BTW, I found an old thread from last Sept on this issue. In three months it will have been a year since that thread was posted. Are we saying Cakewalk refuses to support Lion specifically? Any good reason for that? Hm? Perhaps they're phasing out Mac dev for those synths altogether... oh, here's a freakin' clue: no Mac version of z3ta+ v2. I think I'll just not install those synths going forward, and be done with it. Shame, cuz I really like Raspture. Company's starting to p!ss me off. Mad

The reasons I don't flat out post my workaround is that it currently requires a working install of Rapture 1.2.2 on an OS X 10.6 system or lower. The steps also involve copying OSX preference files which are used to store the serial/registration info. These files are probably intended to be hidden, although it wouldn't be to hard for someone to figure them out using something like Pacifist or other install/HD trackers.

I've sent an email to Cakewalk support with my workaround. Although I'm sure they already knew about it, and are working on a more elegant solution.

The work around I have that involves copying a working installation, also works for Dimension Pro.

I've PMed you guys.

It should be up to the developer to bring compatibility, not Apple. As stated at http://www.store.cakewalk.com/b2cus/ProductInfo.aspx?product id=10-CWDM1.50-30E

Quote:
Works with Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7 and OS X 10.5 or higher (OS X Lion is not supported)

I won't expect the product to be running on Lion, but it's strange to know some can make it work. If so, why don't Cakewalk post a official info about it? Copying and moving files following a tutorial does not sound that difficult Shrug

There's a good article. It says anything with PowerPC won't work on Lion. Then go wiki PowerPC. EEk.

FWIW, the Cakewalk VSTis are UB. There is a component to the installers that must be PowerPC, and that's why Lion is presenting that message.

Just wait soon enough you'll only be able to get apps on OS X through Apple's App Store... Crying or Very sad Although that discussion deserves it's own thread... Rolling Eyes

Try Pacifist for manual installs then.

Cool App. Doesn't extract VISE X installers though.

So it seems - it's annoying though that z3ta 2 isn't one of them. I think I'll wait for Cakewalk to update them, if they are not bothered with supporting their own products then it's probably not worth the effort installing them on an unsupported system anyway. Thanks for you help though.

Thanks for the info, Chad. You would't have a spare Mac running SL that you could ship to me, would you? I promise to send it back! Laughing I'll take a loaded Mac Pro if ya got one… you know… or just a i7 MBP w/ hi-res antiglare and SSD would do…

Seriously, we're coming up on a year since Lion has been available, and you can't buy a mac w/ SL. WTF Cakewalk? And I don't use the "WTF" card that often, but… W - T - F CAKEWALK?!?!

I think I'll walk over there tomorrow and offer to load up their code in xcode and compile it for them...
