Well from what I understand in a lot of ways if you have Omnisphere you have basically tried Trilian, just not the particular library. But Trilian, having fewer presets than Omnisphere, probably has a bigger market for new patches I would guess, and really has a lot of untapped potention. It definitely isn't just for bass sounds though that is the majority of the presets that it ships with. I asked Spectrasonics about the possibility of more synth-only presets and they said that was really the focus of Omnisphere more than Trilian (from a business perspective I don't think they want Trilian undercutting Omnisphere in this area, so they don't look to build out its synth presets.)

Anyhow, I hope you or some other patch programmers consider it, as I really think it is such an untapped resource. I'm not a great sound designer but I've made some nice patches for myself in this way, and someone that understands that powerful engine much better could do a lot with it.

Yeah. I mean I get the whole public perception thing if, there's soo many presets why would I want anymore and thats a very real concern!, but at the same time its about variation and quality over quantity too. Not that Omnisphere's presets are bad by any means Eric is a god damn legend and someone I've looked up to from his Roland sound making days.

But if there is one main untapped area of Omnisphere its just using it purely as a subtractive synth, there's definitely a gap in that section that could be filled if I was to make a soundset for it. Either make lots of 2-oscillator presets, or save them as multis to effectively allow up to 16 oscillators per preset. Plus it has some wonderful raw single voice vintage synth samples in there too that could be tapped into more.

Lots to think about!

I programmed some soundbanks for omnisphere (third will be released this week) and used it for a trip hop album and i really really love it. I almost only use its subtractive engine with built-in oscillators, but using some samples to get unexpected sounds is priceless.

Arksun, your Diva and Zebra patches are off the charts good. Just bought both of them today. I listen to LOTS and LOTS of patches created by people, but yours are my favorites. F*cking good work. Keep it up!

Harmor is the most underappreciated synth out there right now, IMO. The documentation is pretty lame and it's far from being an intuitive instrument to program. But, oh, what it's capabile of!

I don't think this is Mac compatible (without resorting to something like Bootcamp). If so, that's the kiss of death here in 2012.

I may be a lone voice here, but I voted for Blade. It is a very cool synth and it deserves some really good presets.

If the PC was more expensive or less accessible than MAC your argument would be right. But the reality is opposite. I don't think people would recommend someone, who are thinking to buy a motor bike, to buy Harley Davidson. But they'd recommend to buy Honda. You can achieve what you want with Honda bike, that's great.

Lucky, I said what I did because in the professional industry, nearly everyone uses Macs these days. So, a developer should include Mac development or they're missing out on a tremendous segment of the market.
