What's the cheapest way of getting ADAT in to my Mac Pro?

Hi,

I have a Focusrite Octopre with ADAT out. I want to be able to record all eight channels in to Logic. I was initially looking at the RME HDSPe AIO but at £480 it's a very expensive way of doing things to just achieve 8 digital channels of input. Then I came across the the EMU 1212M PCIe which I thought had saved me, but then I discovered THAT IT ONLY WORKS ON PC!! If they made this compatible with Mac then they'd be laughing.. Anyway, I wondered if anyone here could suggest something that won't break the bank or could see something I've missed?

Help is much appreciated!

Thanks.

The RME HDSP 9632 is 267 GBP at Thomann if you want to go RME (and you generally do, they're rock solid). The older non-HDSP 9636/9652 Hammerfall can be had for very little these days second hand, if you want to go that route. Note that they have no analog IO what so ever. The new HDSP has it so it would be 10 channels analog IO in total.

At school they taught me how to be.
So pure in thought and word and deed.
They didn't quite succeed.

If you don't need ADAT out, the Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 has ADAT in.

I don't have direct experience with the unit; it just looked like the cheapest option for ADAT in.

Hey thanks for the reply. Please correct me if I've got it wrong but the RME HDSP 9632 won't work with the mac pro because it's PCI and not PCIe. Is that right? The PCIe version of the HDSP 9632 is the HDSPe AIO which is the one I mentioned in the original post. Thanks again!

Second hand M-Audio Lightbridge Profire? $329 on eBay. It's all ADAT. Multiple ADAT inputs, actually.
