I upgraded to Win 7 64 bit on a new PC. I enjoy being able to open Alchemy as a standalone synth by using a wrapper.
I used to use Savihost as my wrapper in XP, but the new 64 bit version doesn't seem to work in Win 7 (not just Alchemy, but can't get Savihost to install). Am I doing something wrong (or should use a specific version of Savihost)? Or is there a better VST wrapper recommended for Alchemy in Win 7 64 bit? |

Savihost x64 is working fine here on Win 7.
There is a 64-bit specific version of Savihost, obviously, but aside from that I don't recall it requiring any special action to work: put Savihost.exe in the same folder as the 64-bit version of Alchemy.dll and rename Alchemy.exe - same as Savihost x32. Peace, Andy. |

Thanks for quick reply. I'll try installing Savihost 64 bit version again. They have a couple variations, so maybe I used the wrong one.
It's been a great tool for Alchemy and other products when I was in XP, so I'm glad to know it should work. BTW - Upgraded PC and I own more than 40+ VSTs ... after installing DAW, which VST gets installed first?? Alchemy of course!!!! |

I use Cantabile Lite for both 64 and 32-bit VSTs in 64-bit W7. It's free and works well. Occassionally I have to restart it when it complains of not being able to initialize itself, but that's a fairly minor annoyance and I can't say I'm not getting my money's worth. |

Another one to try is VSTHost64 which is what I am using exclusively for Alchemy standalone. |
