sorry, Richard, post edited. Embarassed
I'll compile a list of presets used in those two tracks and send it to you so that you can find them quicker.

The filters in both Saurus and ElectraX are great (while ElectraX has a much bigger amount of choices) and they seem to be quite different which is good IMO.

Ingo

that wasn't what i felt comparing Gladiator and Electrax : there is a typical colour from tone2 IMO, that is common to both instruments and this dissapointed me a bit
Likely because when Gladiator was previously released it has been for me THE big surprise !

Surprised

I did filter tests too and the resonance is very different in Saurus and ElectraX, with Saurus having a more pleasing response to my ears. Smile
The oscillator waves sound different too. So all in all, these synths are different from the onset.

I tend to look at ElectraX as the one you can stack to make something huge, like a really thick powerful lead or deep swirly pad with loads of layers. Well it is 4 layers of 3 oscillators each, set them off going in different directiona and you can have pure chaos but in a musical style. Which is where having 3 mod matrices per layer comes in handy.

Has anyone done anything jazzy with Saurus? I'm thinking of xylophone-like, percussive, and e-piano type sounds. Anything progressive-rock like? 'Yes'-esque? Most of what I have heard sounds pretty modern, what about something from the 70's? Thanks.

If I remember correct some of Viktor's presets / demos (Unshusable Coktor - TUC in the factory lib.) feature those styles, more of those sounds will be in the first Saurus soundset which will focus more on Vintage 70s styles.

Something from the 70s then.
I love the 1970s. The time of unadulterated psychedelic electronic music Very Happy If you haven't heard of artists like TD or K. Shulze don't listen to this. You'll just get confused. Very Happy

Dream Of Fluffy Arpeggios and Canned Tangerines

(this time there is a limiter on the output as I didn't have time to faff around with levels. Busy mix but I like it that way).
