You really should have been in a synth pop band in 1985 How about a Prog band in 1980? Thanks very much for listening and commenting, Geoff. It is much appreciated I'm off to raid the fridge. |

I've listened to it a handful of times, and every time I think "Hm, a little too dancy/clubby for my tastes" and then shortly after that I get into it. I agree with what's been said about it not feeling like seven minutes. It all flows along (and takes some turns) quite nicely. Thanks, seismic1. |

Thanks very much for taking the time to listen and comment, Mike. This track was a lot of work to put together, although it is essentially very simple. It only really came together when I "robotized" the drums, added a little variation to the bass, and added a second trance gate with a different pattern to the first one. Glad you liked it |

Glad you liked it, DHM. Thanks for listening. I can see that I will have to work on my chat-up lines a little before our next soirée |

Thanks very much for the listen and comments. I'm glad this worked for you. The next track is more "conventional" |

Thanks very much for the listen and comments. I'm glad this worked for you. The next track is more "conventional" i think rather than "mashup" i should have said "contrasting ideas" but i guess you understood anyway conventional?! no, don't do that |

I used "stylistic mashup" myself earlier in the thread Convention.........red rag to a bull |

Thanks for leaving some feedback on my track. I went to page 3 to look for this to return the favour.
The melody content is interesting. I like people who investigate / explore harmony / melody rather than just layer sound without any real depth of exploration or imagination. I understand you had problems updating an older version , as i tend to do the same thing myself quite a lot , and regularly revisit a track years later if I stumble across it again and think it warrants re-doing. The thing that lets it down is the level of the beats though. In some places the music overpowers them , but mainly the snares , which should be one of the main focal points for listeners "navigating" a track. It's all clear enough and I don't hear any muddiness or any of the more common mixing errors. |

This track was troublesome from day 1 and the remix was difficult as well, but I got to a point where I felt I had managed to (slightly) improve the original, so I put it back to bed. I think you were right about the drums. I have replaced the SoundCloud version of the track with a new mix which has all drums up 1dB and the snare up 2dB. It makes them slightly more prominent. I think drums/percussion (sonics) is one area I need to focus on (along with audio processing, generally). I have acquired a couple of new toys to help in this area. Hopefully, I shall find some time to use them in the next few months. Thanks again for the feedback |
