I'm desperate here! I have logic express 8 (yes 8, because I still have leopard...)
and I have a bunch of samples for exs24 on an external hd. I've read a lot of questions and doubts on this subject and none of it worked so far. I've put the alias to exs files into "sampler/instruments" and I've put the alias to the samples also. I open logic and the instruments are there, but when I chose them and he tries to read a sample it gets stuck. I have to force quit. I've tried to put the exs files actually in the hard drive into the "sampler/instruments", the same. I've used ExsManagerPro, and I've set my preferences on logic to "scan all volumes". ExsManager links my exs files to the files on the volumes. Nothing, nothing, nothing, all stuck. Last test: I actually put everyfile on the hard drive - it works perfectly. I remove the sample files again, and use aliases. Stuck again. I run Exsmanagerpro and get all linked. Stuck. I'm desesperate. I don't know what to do, Exs24 simply doesn't read the samples when they are on the external Hd. It's a WD hd, firewire 800, I don't get it. If I open in the library a sample as if it was a soundfile it reads if perfectly from the external hd. So I don't get it... ---- Play fair and square! |

"Exs24 simply doesn't read the samples when they are on the external Hd." It looks like you just said they do, only it does not do anything by the aliases |

See if your external HDD if formatted case sensitive.
Use disk utility to see what kind of format the HDD is using. I know earlier versions of logic had issues with non standard formats for hard drives. Also are you running the latest version of Logic 8? If not update... Wayne |
