My MBP runs Lion, kept it on there to test functionality. I found that a flat install of 10.7.3 wasn't bad but an upgrade from 10.6 was quite twitchy.

Lion sucks. Well… compared to my experience w/ SL, let's say that Lion is "not as good as SL". You know you're in trouble when your first experience w/ the new OS is BACKWARDS TRACKPAD SCROLLING. Like, really? You think that's the best default behavior? I'm getting the feeling that Apple has been taken over by the same crew that brought us the MS Office ribbon.

And don't get me started on XCode4. Have you ever used a software program (excluding database-type programs) that could literally consume up to 2GB of resident memory? If you want to experience what that feels like, load up a decent size project in XCode4. I hope you opted for the 8GB.

Never mind the fact that they went with the "let's make XCode4 look and feel like iTunes" UI redesign.

I'm tellin' ya, it's the Ribbon Crew. They must be a band of High Priced Consultants making their way around the software industry, fixin' things that don't need fixin'.

Oh, and you want stability?!? ! Just the other day I was marveling at the sight of 4 zombie iOS Simulator processes running on my system. How did I know something was amiss? Well, iOS simulator wouldn't load my app. A quick ps -ef showed 4 defunct processes… but not quite defunct… or who the eff knows. Ok, kill -9... Nope. Ok, sudo kill -9… (That's extreme prejudice, my friend). I actually had to reboot to destroy the 4 processes. Being an old windoze hand, I felt right at home, so I had that going for me.

I give Apple credit: they have succeeded in destabilizing Unix! I can tell you: unkillable zombie processes is what one might call "a red flag".

Oh, and devs who can't get their act together to support OS updates: sorry to sound so harsh, but you need to try harder. Don't give me "Apple changed this, and Apple changed that". The point of saying your software supports XYZ operating system is that you are signing up to supporting your software on that operating system. Anything less is amateur hour. Or, just tell your customers: we don't support OS XYZ. Period.

Big thanks to Chad, the workaround to install Dimension Pro and Rapture on OS X Lion is quick, painless and works a charm....What a champ

I would agree with you if it wasn't for 10.7.4. Feels polished and smooth compared to 10.7.3.

By the way, the backwards trackpad scrolling behavior can be changed in System Preferences.

I know, it's the very first thing I did after upgrading. My point is: who's running the show over there and making decisions like "hey, let's make this feature here do the TOTALLY OPPOSITE OF WHAT IT DID IN THE PREVIOUS VERSION, and make that the DEFAULT"??? Has a very MS feel to it. Thank God they didn't swap black for white and white for black… (yet)

Yeah, that and the decision to hide the User Library folder. "Hey, users are stupid, let's hide everything from them, and then we can fire all the support department, and remain just with marketing!"

You can still access Library folder holding ALT key when the drop menu Finder > Go is active. I think it's a good decision to hide it, novel users could mess the system big time

As for me, I just dragged library folder to my Finder sidebar for accessing anytime I want. No big deal.

There are always workarounds, if people know where to look. And, if the users can mess the system by accessing the User:Library, imagine what they can do with the root:Library. However, that one is still visible and accessible.
The point is: It's not to Apple to take those decisions. Users NEED access to the folder, therefore, having to find workarounds to access it is just plainly stupid.
Besides, if there is a workaround, what's the point of hidden it in the first place? There's no way to support Apple on this. This is, as in many other decisions, plainly arrogant, stupid and disrespectful towards the users. Something we have been accustomed from Apple, BTW.

I was in Montreal on vacation last week and wandered into Steve's Music - a place where I often find bargains every time I visit - and found they were blowing out both Rapture and Dimension Pro. Rapture for 19.97 CDN, DP for 29.97 CDN. Seeing how old they are, I wondered if they would even install.

So I used my iPhone to do a Google search, and got this thread. And after reading through, I took the chance and picked up Rapture. The sales dude asked first if I knew about the Lion problem, and I said "yes, but it looks like some guys found a workaround "

Thankfully I have a second Mac Mini which I use in my entertainment centre which I had never updated to Lion
(since Apple had disabled Front Row, which I use quite a bit on the Mini to access movie files from an outboard hard drive, and to access my iTunes content). So I installed Rapture on the TV Mac, then followed Chad's instructions (I had gotten in touch with him during the interim) to load the necessary files to a USB key, then transfer and install them to their proper places on the Lion mini.

I've been playing around with Rapture for a bit now. Works beautifully under Lion. Worth the $20 and getting my hands a bit dirty to get it going. Thanks, Chad and KVR.

Hey guys, I PM'd Chad@PA as seems to be the protocol, but given I'm not sure if he's around or not, I thought I would post here as well. I'll just post that email...

I'm a registered owner of DimPro, and have successfully installed it on a separate partition containing Snow Leopard. I copied the /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Dimension Pro Content folder over, the Component and VST files, the /Applications/Cakewalk folder, the two .plist license files to /Library/Preferences, and the single plist file to /Library/Preferences/ByHost.

The program executes, but gives me two "This plug-in is not properly installed" errors. This is true whether I execute DimPro stand-alone, or as a vst plug-in via Logic.
Do you mind helping me passed this? I would very much appreciate it.
