Ok, I'm considering today New Yesrs Day, and I'm making a resolution to deal with my OCD or whatever drives me to impulsively buy plugins like crazy. I think I have enough now and have definitely spent enough. I now have all my Rolands, Oberheims, Moogs, etc. covered, I have my drums and bass guitars and sample libraries covered, I have my DAWs covered and all my effects are there. But it seems I STILL check out the market for deals. Anyhow, I'm just wondering how many other plugin addicts are out there Smile It least it is not all hardware or my wife would have likely made me sleep in the back yard by now Laughing

you can buy hardware synth in rack format, generally women don't see any difference to a rack empty or full Wink

Well, the first thing men usually look at is a woman's rack HiHi

Anyhow, I think I need to take time off from buying instruments and work on music theory. I have plenty of gear, juts need to work on making the most of it, but I'm a geek for this stuff, and need to step away from my wallet for a while Smile and save up for a new computer. I'd also like to get a really nice keyboard controller. That would make the experience probably a lot more satisfying than a new plugin.

yes it was a joke, the most important is to make music instead of testing synth, listening to every preset but it can be inspiring !
making music with a nice keyboard with knob to tweak virtual synth is just a dream, i am very satisfied of my novation remote 37SL and launchpad

I've always found freeware to be more adventurous(although the good stuff is rare), I couldn't play a MIDI guitar riff with anything mainstream.

My name is Forrest and I am a VSTi junkie.

Honestly, though... I find myself seeking deals here all the time and my music making has dwindled. It takes longer for inspiration to take hold because I have so much crap to wade through... Synths, EQ's, Saturators, Delays, Compressors...

As nice as it is to have options, it is hard to be happy, cause I don't really know any all that well. I used to be the happiest monkey with SuperWave P8, a Reverb VSTi and a midi keyboard... now I don't know where to begin or end. Razz

Now it is an endless search for the most advanced analog modeled circuit non-aliasing... blah, blah, blah.

I truly believe that with all the vsti tools I do own, I could make a total hit song or anything for that matter (if I have the skill, patience and drive). However, the endless searching for that "perfect" pad sound has gotten me here. Could have made it over and over by this point.

Well I have been on a buying spree after taking a few years off from KVR and electronic music-making, and previously I used freeware and what was bundled in Logic/Garageband and Ableton Live. So I figured i would build out my 'studio' and I think I'm done doing that, I wanted: a good Moog, a good Juno/Jupiter, an Oberheim, Trilogy (now Trilian) for bass, a good DAW, a good sample library, decent effects but nothing expensive/crazy, good drums, and I think now I've gotten all of that and more. I bought a lot used or on sale, overextended my slim budget big-time Smile but I have all the bases covered that I was looking to cover, so now its time to take a hiatus from spending money and get more familiar with all the gear and get more focused on the actual music part of it all. But I can't help being tempted by all the cool stuff that flows through KVR on a daily basis Smile but I need to stop myself at some point.

Regarding freeware, yeah there is much cool stuff out there but freeware is even worse because there is no limit to that searching Smile at least cost keeps my eyes from being bigger than my stomach and maybe it is psychological to some degree but I appreciate the polish on commercial synths more these days. Not that they have to be overly expensive but I really do appreciate something a little more when I actually paid something for it.
