Hi everyone
I'm trying to learn more about sound mixing and how to get "that" sound. Do you know any website or videos that extensively analyze the mix of a particular song? (mixing techniques and such) Thanks |

No, but I read this book:
http://www.amazon.com/Mixing-Audio-Second-Edition-Practices/ dp/0240522222/ref=dp_ob_title_bk It will not make you an expert, but it is a good introduction. There are other similar books available that I have not read. IMO you should read something like this, and really study it. This will give you a general starting point. Then the best thing to do is try and apprentice somewhere or otherwise get real world experience, reading this book alone will only go so far. |

i would go along with what panphobia said, just read things and practice them at the same time over and over until you get the hang of it. Usually after i get the structure of my song and am ready for the mixdown, I delete all of the envelopes, and normalize all of the volumes. Then i start with the kick and bass EQ, compression, etc. and move on from there. Remember, google and youtube are your friend. Good luck! |
