I love this plug in cause it's an all in one and allows easy upwards gating as well as compression...
as well as being ZERO latency and being able to oversample with ZERO latency. and the preset skins for various dynamics functions are perfect. I had a problematic vocal with a lot of breaths, and i couldn't stand that nectar had 650 ms delay for the de breather (admittedly it works perfectly, just inserted it, moved one knob, was amazing), and the waves one has 750ms latency! (ultimately a bit better than the nectar one as can be alot more aggressive, therefore takes a little longer to get the balanced right) so to avoid this horrendous latency i tried every single gate in my arsenal. Mind you voxengo, even with it's multiband debreath preset, could not do it, and i spent about 45 minutes tweaking just the gate. No way. Even if i had it at such a low threshold that much vocal was being removed, yet breaths left untouched LOL. within 10 minutes with the bluecat, 5 really but 10 to perfect, i was able to adjust attack and release and hold time and threshold to successfully remove the breaths without touching the vocal, it was a fine line, but it could do it and was well worth the trouble to avoid almost a second latency with the other plugins. Now i have mix control, valley people, mcdsp everything, logic and studio one's gates, psp mix gate, voxformer, duended native vocal strip (this came second, was usable), Eareckon Analog series gate(came third, better than the others) Pro-G (now sold), the nectar GATE (now sold), melda dynamics demo, sonnox dynamics demo (phew just expired i am glad i got to try it, neat plugin overall), sugar bytes vogue, and the blue cat was the best out of all of these, and is also a terrific OVERALL dynamics processor to boot. Very versatile. I just recently sold Pro G mind you and that is supposed to be the be all and end all in gates and i spent as long with this as i did with voxengo, using all the different modes, and it just couldn't do it. BUT PLEASE BLUE CAT IT'S BEEN A YEAR SINCE I ASKED.. add external sidechain! we desperately need a latency free dynamics module that has external sidechain! i bet you it is costing you heaps of sales and you said you would implement it ages ago! GRRRRRR but besides that, flawless plug in. ---- Please call me Theo. |

that's just weird! You forgot to leave a tin of TUNA out !!!! If I were a betting man , and , based on what I've experienced as a customer , the Cat will GET IT DONE !!!!!! ---- Financial solvency and KVR Mix as well as oil and water. |

Did you try ReaGate? It has an external sidechain and you could use an EQ on it before the input to de-ess. ---- ![]() |

ouch a gate to de ess? that would totally duck the s sound, would be horrid!
wasn't trying to de ess in any case, but the blue cat does at least have an internal eq to apply dynamics to only certain frequencies But this topic was more about general praise for a fine plug in that gets talked about here and other forums very VERY little, and i think it deserves better. What i posted was just an example about the gate. ---- Please call me Theo. |

Hi ttoz,
as explained in another thread, with the latest enhancements the MIDI side chain feature works well for most people, and we have had a couple of other high priorities lately. But it's definitely still in the list. |
