Should I get this mastered?

I eq'ed it the best I can but im not sure if its worth shelling out around a hundred bucks to get this mastered though, Its a private link so you might have to click on the URL for the track to play.

What would you expect from having it mastered?
Whatever changes you think could be made could probably be done in your mix!
Want it wider? Use panning and unison. Want it deeper? add some dedicated sub bass. Want it more exciting? use more percussion.

It also sounds like you have a compressor on your master already, which is one of the main steps in mastering... either take off everything but EQ from the master and mix it to sound as good as possible, then have it mastered, or just try to better your mix then strap whatever compressors you use.


For your mixL right around 3:20 things get muddy. Too much stuff all at once, narrow your supersaw sound or have less sounds at once, it's all going into the compressor and turning into mush a bit. Also, the drums are pretty quiet compared to the synth.

I agree with the compression part of it, sounds like it has a pretty lot already.

Another thing you can do is try the demo of Ozone5 and see how it turns out. I think they let you use it for 10 days fully functional.

Mastering is best done by someone else (another set of ears to listen) but that $100 you were going to spend could go towards Ozone instead, if you end up liking what it does for the audio.

Thanks for the reply. You pretty much nailed exactly what I was looking for. The reason I wanted to have it mastered was because when I play it on a good system, everything just pops out, which is good. In the headphones however all the percussion and other sounds just get lost.

But yeah, I should probably mix it better first before I do anything else Smile

Thank you as well for the reply. I actually bought it already, but I'll be honest, its a little too complicated. I did read the manual and tutorial but still, I'm not familiar enough with the software.
