http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AOfbnGkuGc Seriously! The first time I heard it, a chill went up my spine... Very unexpected sound design too. I made a patch for the factory sound bank in M-Audio's Venom that was based on this (aptly named 'agttht') but the DSP dev changed the pre-filter gain structure just before release and it totally broke the preset.
If you crank the filter drive and play two notes at once you can still get there but before the Venom was released it sounded perfect just by hitting one note. |

Well the demos pretty good, as it contains those crackle noise things, which can sit well in a mix. |

fighter plane flying low (preferably right above the listener). causes an enormous adrenaline rush in me every time i hear it.
the thing is there's an army parade in my town every year, and by some incredible twist of fortune it happens that the airplane squadron's route to the the parade is going exactly above my balcony. when the Mig 29s fly over, it's just such an incredibly powerful sound. most people hate that sound, but it's like a drug to me. |

I don't know if it's the best sound I've ever heard but there is a guitar solo in Nine Inch Nails' Ruiner that I really enjoy. The guitar sounds like it's on life support and just falling apart. Very cool sound.
I love the sound of primitive digital oscillators and samplers. Though I suppose samplers don't really have a sound of their own. The sound of a big f**king steel press is pretty, um... impressive. |

7:04 to be precise, Not that I condone or like violence but that is a great sound of skull on concrete. It looks like a bit of a bitch fight up until around six and half minutes and this film (Don't watch if you can not handle violent stuff), The 'Dinging' sound that rings from the fire extinguisher as the guy is pummeling the other's face is a sound I will never forget (It is a excellent film actually IMveryhumbleHO): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_5848fS6Us (Must sample it actually now I think about it and that skull on concrete crunch too, Make some decent percussion sounds to use) Again sorry for the imagery that goes with these two sounds but I do not know how else to present them Dean ---- Shit For Blood, Piss For Brains |

I've always loved the sound of the ししおどし - shishi odoshi (deer chaser) found in Japanese zen gardens. The contrast it provides to the usually serene garden is deeply satisfying.

The pad at the end of "All Is Full Of Love"
Fruscianti's guitar on "Emit Remmus". Sounds like it's being squeezed through a syringe. Hear the pain. |

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that it's the sound of my own voice. Let me check, um, yep, that's it.
Honorable mention to the simple opening line sound in this track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hK8fIuadWa0&feature=related But, that was a few years back, and you kind of had to be there. Yeah, I can see the incredulous looks on your faces now, I wouldn't believe it if you told me either. If you listen really really carefully, it sounds like plastic tearing. |

that irreversible is one f**ked up film, when i was living with my son, one of his friends used to bring all kinds of stuff round including that, i wouldnt have minded had there been a story involved in the violence but its just violence for violence sake, but yes, there is some great sound design going on in it, which i think is the only reason i managed to stay through it, truely f**ked up. ---- look for the true freak label. do not!feed the vampyr. chemically-enhanced-djinnetically-engineered-bio-divurtisy |

I can;t believe you posted that Irreversible clip. That's too much for the unprepared!!! That movie just shattered me after seeing it. PS, I don't know if she's in that clip, but the girl in the film is Johnny Depp;s wife and she won the French equivalent of an Oscar for that film (deserved it too) I'm glad you didn't post the rape clip.
Thread officially derailed. Let's get back on da track |

incorrect. ---- To laymen, software development is something akin to wizardry. Neither time, nor effort are involved. If software is missing features they want, or has bugs, it is solely because someone has been too lazy to wave their magic wand. |

when i awoke this morning, there was a bird outside somewhere that was making a sound similar to that rattling sound the predator in the film of the same name makes...
