Here's what caused the sirens I recorded along with the frogs and toads and birds last night, and made the flashing blue-lit scene I drove past on the way home:

So someone asked me how I would describe the color red to a blind man, what a strange question... |

@t1, two big hugs:
I am so sick of the tiny flying bugs and mosquitoes around my patio. I sprayed some mint spray yesterday and it cleared it, but it doesn't last... |

I would start by giving the blind person samples of red, rose, and white wines... Probably a good idea to give his seeing eye dog some too as he is his master's eyes. |

I'll give you an even more strange question...how do you know that when you see red and I see red we see the same color? Your red may appear to me to be your blue if you get my point, I have no idea how we could describe it to each other let alone a blind man. ---- I never learned anything from being right Hink 2012 RIP Reason L. and Ian B |

I would imagine that everyone perceived colors the same way. If they didn't then color blindness tests would not work the same for all people. |

Color blindness tests depend on differences between colors, not absolute perception.
I know for certain that I see reflective colors toward the blue-violet end of the spectrum differently from most people; I've tested it many times and it's got a measurable physiological basis. Anyone who had their eyes' lenses removed (a "cataract" operation) has similar perception -- sensation, really, as it occurs before even the optic nerve -- but probably more dramatic than what I experience. My lenses aren't right but they are still there. I pass all color blindness tests without difficulty, and color harmonies that look good to me generally do to other people as well. Whether others who don't have physiological abnormalities perceive color differently is at present unanswerable. More to the point, I wonder when Samuel5 will return to make the other three posts, including the one with the payload. *watches with interest* |

I'm thinking it's about time for osiris to begin the next What Are You Thinking About thread and choose its title. |
