I just got logic 9 last week from the app store.

A lot of logic i like. Especially for the price of it. It's really a complete package.
But it's like it's running in some kind of sandbox (or how do i say it. some kind of own kernel space). At least that's how it feels like to me.

I am used to Studio One and for me on my 8-core 2008 mac pro it's very snappy.

In Logic sometimes i think it's going to crash but some operations perform much slower.
Logic tries to keep to audio engine running at all costs it seems but has difficulty with multicore i think.

Oh wait i am getting offtopic and technical. Sorry.
Just my first week of experience.

Other than the not-so-snappyness sometimes it's a logic move to it

The topic = pros moving to logic, well i am releasing songs under my own label www.section9records.nl so I consider myself a bit pro

Cheers,
Viktor

yes, but you are helping me find out what i need to know about the program,
and besides its few bugs im still sorely tempted despite whats been said. If ive had to put up with the first few bugs in sonar x1 until they finally ironed most of the problems out with the x1d updates, im pretty sure ill give logic a try!
Plus most people ive seen using do seem happy with it, reference to a few tutorials ive seen with logic being the sequencer of choice( a lot more than i see sonar x1 being used i might add, and i happen to really like sonar x1 a lot)

Logic requires too much logic to do pretty basic things, for me. I can see how powerful the environment could be but I don't need any of it. Horses for courses. It's seriously complex in many ways.

I was trying out something with VE Pro under it to try and help someone that was baffled: audio input to VEP and acessing Logic's list of that host's reported automation (parameter list), which is simple enough for an instrument track but the workaround to get it back to an audio channel [insert I/O channel and bypass it and then insert an input event] was more than I could manage. In Cubase the parameter list works the same with either, it's quite simple.

I've used it on an older MBP and it's been shockingly efficient given what I did there, which wasn't much. There is a problem exceeding single core usage with instrument plugins, a known issue. Cubase 5 must not be the best for that but it does handle it. I'm golden with VEP so it's no issue.

One should know how different it is before investing, particularly if it involves buying an Apple machine. From what I've seen from posts by Sonar users, Logic is going to be VERY different.

I don't regret buying Logic, but I don't use it hardly. For what I paid, the content itself is probably worth the price.

If one does buy a Mac, get a proper mouse. The scroll *button* is an imbecilic design idea and mine quit scrolling down after a couple years. POS.

what about the included effects???, this is the main reason im interested because ive tried the pc ones and i am impressed, ive heard all the hype about the space designer and others and so i would like to know how the eq and different compressor modes sound compared to say UAD or waves plug ins. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks to all who have commented so far.

.
They're workhorse but by no means they'll replace your 3rd party (with few exceptions here and there but more about workflow than sound quality)

space designer was part of what made me pull the trigger.

I think it's very cool. I ended up using something else but that's a plus. As far as compressors, eq I agree with softska's POV.

But there are quite a number of sampler instruments (and 'foley' content), that are unusual and can be converted to Kontakt well enough.

I have used LP9 and Spcae Designer, I moved to Cubase 6.5 a couple years ago, and imho. Cubase's REVerence convolution reverb sounds much better than Space Designer to my ears.

we might have different tastes in sound. I don't care for the interface. VSL Convolution Reverb and Hybrid Reverb all the way for me now.

I recently bought VSL Suite as well. I have not had a chance to install, and use yet, since I'm in the process of setting up my new home studio, hope to have it all setup by mid-June, Looking forward to use VLS Suite. Looks great, and I'm quite sure it sounds great too.

Thanks for the positive feedback.

tell you what, it's might be the best investment I have made! The interface is very intuitive for me, all of it.
One may tend to think their approach is restricted to orchestra mockup people but it really isn't.

I'm using 'Spread Vocal Slaps' today, the manual advises that tweaking the predelay etc of that preset during a sustained note can be 'special'. and it's WILD.
The exciter is a surgical way to approach distortion. etc.

Glad you are enjoying it, and thanks for the additional feedback.

I'm sure I will put Vienna Suite to good use.

There are no pros moving to logic pro. The premise of the thread is a lie and anyone answering it , a tool.

You answered it, so I guess you can include yourself in that assumption, which isn't a fact yet, as you failed to show any proof.
If your trying to be insulting, then it worked, and that's about all that post accomplished. Thanks for contributing.

The burden of proof is not on my side, mate, and I did not answer the thread on basis of the premise. Nice try but no cigar Wink

Well you broke the kvr rules, by calling us all tools, which is a personal insult to everyone in this thread.
If I was an axe, you'd be on the chopping block for that statement.
btw...what makes you think anyone is actually agreeing with the op?
No one is, but maybe it's about other things than what the op is stating, which may have some worth.
You didn't even read the other posts in the thread...then just marked everyone as a tool.
