Turn up in a DIVA thread and advertise Saurus ! lol I bet that would go down well.

I've had more than enough opportunity to do so in the past, but I won't do it. It's just not the morally correct thing to do.

advertise or mention? If you claim to be advertising it might look like you work for that company, or at most aspire to.

Of all the chat around here recently, the only thing that gives that company a bad smell is YOU

Its a shame as M & B are nice guys, too nice to tell some ppl to keep it zipped

You keep saying the word "advertising". At most, mentioning Diva in this thread is a fun little poke. See post #5 from "djanthonyw".

For somebody, such as myself, interested in a complete picture of Saurus, for example, I want to hear opinions of it in relation to other synths that I'm also familiar with. What are the strengths of this, the wekanesses of that, why should I demo Saurus, why should I revisit the MM demo after a couple of years, or not, or whatever.

It's not about "advertising". These synths and the companies that provide them need no additional marketing in these parts… they're all well known in this little corner of the software world. It's simply a technical discussion about software synthesis, and moreso: a hands-on, paractical technical discussion between some folks who have used it all, can compare to this or that hardware unit, likes this filter or that CPU optimization, or whatever... The OP may only care about Saurus and MM, and gotten his/her answer on or by page 1 or 2, but that doesn't mean the next 2-3 pages can't contain civil, practically-based discussion of MM, Saurus, Diva, Sytrus, or whatever the hell else anybody wants to compare and contrast.

EDIT: and I should add: I appreciate the technical discussion amongst those that do have the hands-on, practical experience. It's one of the things that makes this forum valuable to me.

Isn't mentioning and advertising exactly the same thing ? Of course it is.

Person X : Hey I am interested in Synth A and B

Person Y : Yes they are both good synths, A is good at this, and B is good at that.

Person Z : Synth C is better than A + B <<< Advertising

Oh it's obvious how people word things to mask it all, "Oh I just thought i'd mention it, it is relavent" but it isn't at all is it.

And as for giving a bad impression, I dunno why anyone would think that, I don't work for Tone2 never have, so all my views are my own. Tough pill to swallow that one ain't it son. HiHi

That's quite true, but unfortunately that's never how it works around here. THe two synths were questioned, and someone felt the need to belittle them both and bring up another one, prompting others to do similar.

I'm not "trying to say" anything I said it without trying very hard, it was easy :p Some people are pathological, we see it over and over and you can just feel the need for them to get some help dripping off ever word in their posts :shrug; I'm not excluding myself either HiHi sometimes we need to just take a step back, take a breath, relax, and get over whatever we think is so important about our limited, biased, provincial position and get a f**king clue now and then. Shocked

That is not advertising, that is the persons opinion and they are free to state it and I have seen more than one occasion where exactly this happened and person X came back and said thanks for the suggestion and purchased synth C

It may also be in this case that person Z said that to stir the pot. I do not know their motivation in this case. If that is the case, just ignore it.

What i am more worried about is that why people like me and LeVzi who are more or less experienced Saurus users (and Tone2 beta testers) should hold back in a thread about Saurus and Minimonsta while those who usually don't really care about Saurus (e.g. pdxindy and braj) do think they could derail the thread by turning my words against me or better use every drop of the name "Diva" (no matter in which context) to slowly start another flame war (just remember your car comparisons, braj...).

Ingo

J was only correcting the mistaken notion Diva was an ocean liner. Don't try and twist my words now Uh Uh Uh and I made a fair comparison with the cars I chose too, Diva being expensive (cpu-wise) and sexy but definitely high maintainance, Minimonsta being powerful and muscular but a little pimped out for my tastes, and Saurus being fast but still efficient and usable every day. I gave them all an era to live in given their vintage attitudes. It was no attack on or advertisement for anyone. It may not have been so witty or humourous but I didn't hurt anyone.

We are not mods here, the mods are. From what I see when we try to make it our business to tell others what to think and what to post, we incur a relevant reaction. I really don't know why this all has to be so messy, can't we all get along? Sometimes I think some people sense of humor generator is broken. Anyhow I'm working on having a better signal to noise ratio because I know I can be part of the problem, but what do they say? Acknowledging you have a problem is the first step to recovery? Anyhow I'm expecting this whole thing to be locked soon. Too bad because it was going nicely for a while.
