Well I was also remembering how I recently deleted a ton of sample material that comes with Studio One from my hard drive simply because I don't use it. I am finding synths and modeled instruments more useful personally, and have good Moog impersonation stations like Diva already so does it really make sense to buy more samples? I have some stuff on my short list to purchase and I shouldn't blow my wad on more samples that I wouldn't otherwise be shopping for just because the price is low. It is again the wrong reason to open my wallet. 'A fool and his money are soon parted' rings true to this fool and luckily I caught myself this time Smile

Nothing wrong with samples. You never know when come in handy, plus, I usually purchase the sample packs that also includes the midi files. Changes the ball game! Smile

Life's too short to program soft synths, that's why we have romplers.

Nothing wrong with them, just if you use them then it is great, if they just take up 30 GB of your hard drive waiting to be used, I dunno. I just bought a synth instead with some of the money and I'm certain I'll get more use out of that, that's just my preference. My point is since I did just remove a bunch of content I am not using, do I really need to get more that I likely won't use much of? I bought a synth instead, like 6 MB or whatever, no real RAM footprint in my DAW and I know I'll use it Shrug I'm not knocking samples at all, just I got a little tempted just by the low, low sale price Very Happy and that was kinda dumb.

Currently if you're "in the know" on IK's Facebook page you can get the Total Workstation Group Buy at only $90 for the cross grade price if you own any other IK products. Buy a [url=http://djrig.net/]$5 dollar iPhone app or buy some Credits in the AmpliTube Custom Shop. Getting this much for that low is a no brainer.

I must be pretty stupid because I can't figure out how to get this deal. I visited their site and it says it's $149. I'd love to get the $99 deal. So I went to their FB page, liked it, and nothing. I got to their "IK Exclusive Deals" tab and it has a big old image that says "Click our like button!" but there is no like button, because I've already liked it. So how do I get this deal? Do they email me a code or something?

What does Sample Tank do for people that couldn't be done better by Kontakt with the stock library? I'm seriously curious. Everything I used to use Sampletank for ("this track would sound good with a glockenspiel") I've got to Kontakt for. At least for natural sounds. For everything else, there's either synths or individual plugins, all of which end up sounding better than Sample Tank in the first place.

What am I not getting here? Is it ease of use/workflow? Do people really like the sounds that much? The built in effects?

Did you tweet the google hashtag? Or like the tweet follower? Or something?

I'm all thumbs when comes to things like texting, etc.

What is taking IK Multimedia so long to update SampleTank? It's 2012 mane do something to it and stop doing all this ipad iphone stuff.

Last year (and so far this year, until the huge AmpliTube iOS update that will tip the scales toward that version) we updated the desktop version of AmpliTube far more than the iOS version. We have been developing as many desktop products lately too, starting in early June you'll be seeing the start of that. Starting with that there will also be AmpliTube Custom Shop models, T-RackS Singles, and a change with one of the older plugins.

I don't know what was going on, so I created a new FB account and was able to like it again and it gave me the code. That may not be what they wanted (a like from a brand new account with no friends) but oh well, I tried.

And now this is a bummer. I'm trying to use their "Authorization Manager" and I pasted the serial they sent me and it says "serial number inserted is not eligible for a crossgrade/upgrade product". I have no idea how they determine that, since it never asked me what product I own (answer: sample tank iPad).

How frustrating.

Make sure your SampleTank iPad is registered (you have to register within the app) using your IK account information. If that isn't the issue, you can get this sorted out with Support (http://www.ikmultimedia.com/support) and they'll help with it. Thanks.

Okay so it turns out I didn't have sampletank for iPad after all...I thought I did, but no. So I purchased it, and I'm downloading now, and will register from within the app. Thank you for the clarification.

As I mentioned elsewhere, I think that a lot of the IK stuff just has more character and charm. They're not the glossiest, most hyper-real VIs I own, but that's not their strong suit anyway. I also use Kontakt and other VIs for lots of things, or layer all of it. But yeah, the speed of tweaking the ADSR, filters, LFOs, velocity and the NICE IK based effects from one screen is a really big plus for me.

I occasionally hear ST/TW2 called dated here, but that's just because many of the instruments and sounds they set out to recreate are from a classic era in music. Lots of the basses, keys, guitars and synths name check artists or songs from the sixties and seventies. I love all that stuff, and know how to sculpt it into something very modern, but I know that's not for everyone.

And while Samplemoog is an INCREDIBLE library of Moogs that are very accurate to the instruments, kids coming up on big virtual one-note wonders say meh while I'm still blown away to have all that vintage wonder under my fingers.

So youngsters, I'll come out and say it. Yes, that free synth you downloaded may sound bigger, better, fatter than some of the synths in TW2. Great, mix it all up, it really is all good!

But for overall depth and breadth, it's a really strong package, that with a little work, can sound as good as anything out there.

Change in an older plugin? Does this mean CSR 64-bit? Adding the transformers to the 1176LN and/or the tube stage to the LA-2A? Though, I guess that last one would be two plugins.

Feel very let down by IK as a company, have invested a lot in them and not been given the return in terms of updates of what where once great plugins (CSR and ST) both are now very crashy at best with a lot of hosts and bridges, I wouldn't invest anymore in this company and advise others against it too (Unless you own an ios device of course)

For me, It's the price. Through a group buy, sales, and IK bucks, I got loads of sounds to play with for cheap. I just write music. If I were to publish music, I would chose Kontakt. ST is nowhere near ready for prime time.

I like the gritty sounds ST has. I also like Casio and the M1. However, the general audience only tolerates these sounds in novelty music like the Napoleon Dynamite soundtrack. Although, the new Kelly Clarkson hit sure sounds like it has a Casio in it.

Thanks for the support! People think that if it isn't huge out the gate it isn't good. I personally like to mold my sounds to fit my projects, not create projects to fit someone elses. Cool
