Does anyone know how to create a sound like this - it's the very first sound you hear in Ace of Base's Happy Nation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icux4A18ljA.

I'm afraid the sound quality isn't very good on the video, so if you've got the real song to hand please listen to that instead.

Thanks for any help!

Saw osc with some slight unison/detuning and a fast subtle LFO on the filter cutoff.

Maybe with LFO, but I think it's rather a Tremolo effect or some gated synth mixed in.

Yeah, it hasn't the raspy sound of a saw wave, but definitely the hollow sound of a square wave.

I'm pretty sure it's a sine-square wave as I get a similar sound with it. And there seems to be a lowpass filter on it...
