It's called 'SIAC'. Haven't tried it yet. Thanks for the heads up

its been a fave here for years...
and does havea similar(note similar) sound to the original and its closely modelled visually too.
as i was in a room with two of them last week i feel qualified to comment.
not sure it was fair of me to hog the one set up to play and leave everyone else with just the minimoog and the oscar and bits hehe

@ leras. I'm pretty happy with it and don't need a replacement, thanks Smile ACE is on my shopping list bit for this particular sound Xils 3 is right on the money, I have listened to enoughGong throughthe years to recognize that timber immediately in Xils 3. That may be from the spring reverberations bit then it isn't exactly a failing and was exactly what I was after.

its the better option though, as not only do you get synth in a case you get millions upon millions of ensembles Love

theres even one on the installation disc with a preset called "flying teapot" and much much more besides.
as a gong fan for many many years i can inform your decision to save the money and buy reaktor, no dongle either Wink

Yeah I have the LE version with no plans to upgrade, so it really is a non-issue. But if I ever get Komplete I'll definitely check that out Smile

But I do think it is funny to get the advice though Smile "I'm happy, I'm not happy. I'm sad, I'm not sad....." I will try and stay equipoised and content with Xils 3 LE for what it is, sounds just fine to me and so no worries for me, no need to fnd a replacement. I was listening to Mother Gong's "I am a tree" yesterday and that seems like good advice to me.

Well.... Reaktor is the bomb! If you get into that you have a HUGE range of sounds and synthesis types.

If you want to copy an exact sound, then this LE that may be the way to go.

However,

If you want a wider range of sounds of this type which will allow you to be more creative I'd say ACE. It's pretty complex for such a 'small' synth. Makes fat bass, amazing leads, fx and awesome bubbling, burbling audio rate oscillation type sounds. Can do pretty much all VA very nicely, and then has the whole bubbly audio rate things as well. PLUS - it has a really pretty remarkable sequencer once you scratched beyond it's surface

btw, shouldn't your title for this thread be "good buy?" instead of "good buy!"...

I changed the title because I bought it Smile $25 was a nice deal with an extra soundbank. ACE is on my shopping list but will get it once I get a new computer. Anyhow bottom line is I'm satisfied.

The Reaktor ensemble is very nice. Without entering into details, it doesnt sound like the Xils 3 LE.

As for Ace, a lot of modules are different. They also sound very different.( If I'm qualified after having made hundreds of patches for both ... ) It's therefore pointless imo to compare them, besides the fact that they are both more or less modular synths.

Hi,

I updated the XILS 3 LE version to 1.0.81 (beta for the moment)
It is available on the download page
http://www.xils-lab.com/pages/XILS3LE_Download%20Installer.h tml#download

With this version, you can load patches made with the full version.
Obviously, if a patch is using other modules than those available in the LE, if it also uses pins with fractional values, it won't sound the same.

So aMUSEd XILS Unquiet Night can be loaded and will make sounds (like other sound sets)

But remember : If a patch, made with the full version, doesn't sound correctly, don't blame the sound designer. It works fine with the full version !

BTW : I also fixed a problem I left, the sequencer didn't start with the keyboard as it should.

Best regards
Xavier
