In Live Lite it seems that there's only one VST folder allowed (custom VST folder).

Is this a restriction of the Lite version only, or is it the same in other versions?

At least in the last version (5.2) that I owned it was restricted to only one folder, which I found an inconvenience.

Don't know, as I only keep my vsts in the main default folder.
You can try though.
In the preferences, scan the main vst folder, then right below that select a custom folder, and point it to that path.
It will then scan your custom folder, and use that.
If your lucky, it will thereafter just use both.
Do you see that in the preferences?
Right below scan vst folder, there's the custom folder choice option.
Not sure if you can have both though, and I don't have a custom folder to try it out here.

Its one folder in the full version as well. However the good thing about live is that it follows shortcuts. So instead of having to have everything installed meticulously you can have it installed wherever you want then create a custom directory that is full of shortcuts to the vsts organized how you want them to be

For example I have mine setup with 1 dir for synths I commonly use, a second for rarer ones, a third for midi vsts, then an 'effects' dir that contains subdirs for each type of effect. Then I just drop in shortcuts where i want them

The full version of live and the lite version scans all your programs folder and lists all the third party VSTs under one menu ands lives own plugins in its own folders. You could set it to scan all the hard drive if you wanted.

You can also set it up so all one brand of VSTS are in their own folder in the third party vst folder or any way you want them.
