Hey guys,
it's been a while that i posted something, never had any problems with sound designing in the past weeks! but now i really failed, i thought i have the clue, but my attempt to this track was absolutely horrible.... http://soundcloud.com/zedd/spectrum 1:18 Basically its "just" a classic supersaw added with a lot of white noise and a bitcrushing typical zedd bass! So i tried it with sylenth, massive, z3ta and so on..... i know his tracks are perfectly mastered and the sidechain-settings can do a lot to a mix, but my attempt wasnt even close! the power and the full & rich saw sounds soo awesome to me! So please, help me to get "nearer" to this sound i would really appreciate it if someone could try to recreate these sounds! thx a lot, Daniel |

Specifically which sound are you curious about? If you want us to try em all, we wont be accurate. |

Zedd is the master.
I am working on the sounds myself at the moment. Keep you posted.. ---- Download free Massive soundbanks on my Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jixxi/222267111210140?sk=app_190322544333196 |

Especially the whole mainriff...how the sounds (Bass,Saws, white noise) and drums were stacked together... |

You know, I just figured something out... multiband compression really does the trick when creating sweet synths like the one he has in his drop. I'm messing around with multiband dynamics in ableton live at the moment and I'm getting really sweet results! try it and let me know how it goes |

I'm not too good with multiband compression yet, but here's the synth that I came up with. This part is taken from one of my tracks that I'm currently working on http://soundcloud.com/itsnano/big-synth |

By the way if you want the notes to chop off like his does, then you will want to render it as audio and cut off parts that you want to be cut, making it come in and out very sudden. |

love it!
keep us updated! also, when you say "multiband dynamics does the trick", how do you actually process them? do you just mix the high low mid or do you add dist or something to each specific band ? would love to hear more details about it.. ---- MacBook Pro 15" | 2 GHz Intel Core i7 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 | 240GB OCZ Vertex 3 SSD + 500GB Toshiba internal HDD | AMD RAdeon HD 6490M 256MB | Apogee Duet | Logic Pro 9.1.6 | MAC OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.3 |

I use it to boost a certain frequency (a.k.a high's and tiny bit in the lows/maybe mids but depends on the track) and distort it a little. After that, i EQ the sound to make sure to control the distortion so it doesn't destroy the sound, but enhances it |
