So does NI have a policy about re-sales of downloads or not?

Can some of you clarify what products you are talking about when you speak of reselling "addons" etc. ? Indeed I don't get to know if some just tried to resell soundpacks...

When I contacted NI, they told me, that Kore-packs, Maschine-packs, Soundsets definitely cannot be resold ...
Software usually can be. But I don't know if they do a resell of "powered-by"-products.

To get a clear answer you should always get in touch with your manufacturer's support-staff once you have a question on reselling any product you own.

By the way I always made very good experience with NI's support and indeed I'm very happy they are much more helpful especially in view of license-questions and technical requests than some other manufacturers out there. I really appreciate their company, service-structure and their products. (yes, of course I'm a NI-fan Smile )

And if you should have problems in view of phone-costs: try maybe something like the phone-solution of skype...

Powered by used to be covered under the eula as not resaleable.

As to why someone is reselling them anyways, that is another mystery.

@download: If you bought the DL of lets say GR4 and want to sell it, then that is different. Also, I believe they become nfr after the resale. There used to be people from NI that would chime in on these things.......guess they were scared off long ago HiHi

I'm as confused as you are Confused
What I do know:

Add-ons are not resellable, and haven't been for three years or so. The reason why is that some of them use
licensed third party content for samples, and the third party doesn't permit transfers. Rather than having a
"you can transfer this add-on but not that one" list, they just decided to not allow transfers of all add-ons.

Also, a lot of the confusion's more than likely due to the customer service/sales people not being on the same page.
I remember back when the original Reaktor Player was discontinued, and you instead could use it to upgrade to R5. There
was more than one occurance of people being told by someone at NI that they could sell their player license after upgrading
and still keep their R5 license Smack

Unless they have changed their policy recently, it is irrelevant as to whether or not it is a download but whether it is a full program or a 'powered by'.

The full programs are (were? ) transferable and the 'powered by' are (were? ) not transferable. Hopefully that haven't made it harder to transfer as they were one of the few EU music software companies that were actually close to abiding by the EU Software Directive. If they have made it harder to transfer, then they are opening themselves up for all kinds of issues, especially with the current case lined up for the EU court....

Like the OP I have redundant stuff I'd like to sell. We're stuck with it folks. It's in the FL/cakewalk file under "forget about it"

Still searching for an answer . . .

As you can see the forums won't provide one. As I said before, send in your request to de-register your plugin. You'll have your answer.

My understanding was that any download only products (including vsti) sold after March 2011, are covered by a new EULA forbidding resale). Download only products (including vsti, but excluding powered by instruments) sold before March 2011 are covered by the old EULA allowing resale. Doesn't explain why some are seemingly able to sell powered by instruments though, and of course I may be wrong in my assumptions, but my serial no.s for Reaktor and Absynth d/l were cleared recently with no issues (both bought before the March 2011 EULA change).
