AFAIK you can import a MIDI file in Strum Electric (for the loop player), but it doesn't output MIDI data.

too bad. It would be amazing to drive another synth from this.

I could have sworn I got individual note midi output from my strum acoustic.
Not realtime, but the midi recorded.
It might have been that freeware one though called Spicy guitar.
Haven't used it in a long time, so I'll check it now.

I hope you're right, but I can't get it to do it.

Not in realtime, but is that necessary.
Not for recording purposes anyway.

Well, the idea is to have a step sequencer run in real-time while you write out the pattern Shrug that is the benefit really, but you can just as easily loop a section in your piano roll and write in the pattern there as long as it isn't scrolling.

Idrum also doesn't do triplet so it wasn't a great suggestion on my part, but it does have one click setting of hit and velocity which I love. I would love a similar midi pattern sequencer that could output midi to use in a variety is ways, drag and drop midi would be great too. Really flexible grid with god grooves, swing and time sig support.

It IS kind of a synth...or better said, a physical guitar emulation. It outputs audio data, not MIDI data. You can use the MIDI Learn for modulating the CC - but it is no MIDI VST...

I haven't found a possibility to output MIDI data from Spicy Guitar, either.

does anyone notice a very high pitched noise coming out of this when a not is played?

I especially notice it when using Amplitube 2

Of course, you can play it with MIDI notes, but what it outputs is audio data...

yes, you play it with midi notes, and it is brilliant.

I half expect a plugin like this to also output the midi data that it is converting in order to do what it does.

That is just icing on the cake though. It does what it does very nicely.

Could be on some presets...there is generally much noise, high-pitched as well as low-pitched...

I inactivate all onboard FX (and the amp) and insert an other amp plus some other FX -- then it sounds greater than most living guitarists...

Yea but you have Consequence, and it does all that.
Thesys will output midi to plugins, but I think Consequence only has the midi file to save, or drag. I don't think it drives other devices in real time.
Thesys does though, and has chords and triplets, and automation data.

Consequence can output three channels of midi, it is really cool in that respect, but it doesn't give you very granular control of what is happening, it arpaggiates chords you play but it takes a little 'voodoo' and luck. It is a good thing when trying to get something unexpected, but just not granular enough for working with strumming, you need a pattern sequencer that you can control the notes directly. But again, maybe it is overkill to use a step sequencer for this, the biggest upside is having an interface to create and save patterns. I'd love to see something like that incorporated directly into a future version of Strum though. The midi files definitely help and you can always add your own midi files you create back into that 'database' as it is just a simple folder system. And it will play the files for you from within strum so I guess that really is the best way. It was just an idea to use iDrum, but I have plenty of bad ideas Smile I just love the way you can add a note and its velocity in iDrum in one fell swoop.

I've had trouble using both strum electric and string studio, with
hi gain amp sims. All internal effects, reverb, distortion cab sims are off.
When a note ends, I either get a thud or a harmonic.I ' tweaked various settings, such as decay time.
