The MegaMatrix seemed tempting at the reduced price (25.00 €) but it hasn't been updated since 2007 so not sure how long that'll last me before it won't run anymore. Slightly long in the tooth in some respects, don't see many others charging anything at all for monophonic softsynths these days (a few obvious exceptions), the modmatrix is a bit primitive with its joysticknavigation and automation seemed a bit lacking... Do they still use a rather primitive challenge response system? That's what ultimately put me off the last time I considered it.. Great fun though! ---- "If I were Rat Man, You could be my sidekick; Mouse Boy" |

I definitely agree with this, but I have been messing with the LE version and I have to say that it's pretty freakin' cool for $20.00. Sonar 8.5 Studio always crashed when I re-opened a project with a few VST's (which drove me to the uber-stable Studio One), but X1 LE actually seems pretty stable. I'm really tempted with the current offer for the Producer upgrade, but I can't get over Cake's "no-transfer" policy. It's just hard to swallow a permanent dollar investment that may-or-may-not actually pan out (I felt kinda burned by v8.5). Because of this, I'll probably just stick to LE, even though it's only 32-bit and is limited in many ways - but has Matrix, Staff, and Piano Roll Views and is a very cool toy - if not a real production-level tool like S1 Pro.

So, upgrade to Essential, get Studio; upgrade to Studio, get Producer; upgrade to Producer, get Producer Production Suite. Just a shame that Cakewalk gives a bad deal for Euro customers, putting Euro and Dollar at the same rate, even though dollar is only about 80% worth of the Euro, meaning that Euro customers should have paid about €119 to match $149, yet we have to pay €149, €30 more than the deal dollar customers get. Don't they know there is a crisis here in Euro zone, we need all the help we can get I suspect that the price difference is based on VAT which only European customers have to pay. |

Still not convinced about prochannel - I've got the t-racks plugs - don't know if t-racks plus reaper (or live) is worth switching over to sonar x1. I've got LE and it doesn't feel coherent or as accessible as those two. |

You just answered yourself. Stick with what you know and noodle with X1 LE until it clicks (which it may never do). Don't just jump in cause it's on sale now, as it will be on sale again (...can't believe I just said that on KVR...wtf |

Yeah, I can't believe you said that either!!! But you are right! |

Didn't you all notice that cakewalkin' and caketalkin' (gossip, discussion, etc.) are allowed in the deals-only thread, at least for those that can't read or blatantly ignore the thread title/instructions? If any of you fall under either of those two categories, you might want to hightail it on back over there now, ya hear? |

Gossip is for the gossip thread. This is the gossip thread and the above is gossip and thus the correct thread is this thread. ---- Just face it, you have no idea how to use the software youve just bought |

I downloaded the Sonar X1 demo. I have to say that I was pleasantly suprised by the new interface. The workflow still isn't as streamlined as DAW's like Cubase, Live or Studio One. But it's much better than in the past.
There's a really great step sequencer in sonar. If I buy Sonar Essential I will get Sonar Studio for $79 (I've got Project). But for $149 I buy Sonar Studio and I get Sonar Producer. What would be the main reason to get Producer for $70 more? I already got Dimension Pro. If I get Sonar Studio for $79 I could buy also Rapture for $49. Anyone want shine his/her light on the studio/producer difference? |

I posted here as to put it in the right place. It was also a joke, albeit not a very good one, I guess. In other words, there's quite a bit of caketalk in the deals-only thread that should be in this thread. |

2011 and 2010 Native Instruments started their summer sale on 2 June.
2007 on 2 July. I did not search further for other years. Here we are 7 June and still no sale. Any rumours on if and when NI will do their summer sale this year? |
