I just started using the Demo for Alchemy, and I keep having issues with RandGlide. It seems to work fine most of the time, but then there will be some jaring leap every once in a while. The easiest way to hear it is by just placing a randGlide LFO on a LP Filter and hold down a key for a bit. Is this just an issue on my side, or do people generally use other methods of creating randomly sweeping filters?

Welcome to KVR. I'll move this to the Camel Audio forum, where the Master Alchemists hang out.

Thanks Meffy.

I've tested random glide here, and it seems to be OK. Which version of Alchemy are you using? We fixed a bug with Random Glide in the v1.25 release, which is the current version. You can download Alchemy Player v1.25 by creating an account on our site, the demo period will be extended if an earlier version is running in demo mode.

Because this bug fix could affect presets created in earlier versions we added a compatibility mode - so the make sure you start with a new instance and cleared preset when testing.

If this is a problem with 1.25 please post an audio file + saved preset demonstrating the problem.

Peace,
Andy.

I've found something I quite like, actually..

Using the advanced Envelope thing to quickly make a randomize squiggle leads to a much more controllable random sounding LFO. You can even control where the moving cutoff turns around so that it lands on stronger frequencies rather than ones chosen at random. Thanks for the help though.

hi thumbs,

random glide is, by its very nature, random Wink it randomly generates a value for each lfo step from the range defined by the modulation depth. if you want to omit certain values or ranges from being selected by the random glide, you can adjust the parameter being modulated and its modulation depth appropriately. for more detailed control, but retaining some randomness, you can use a mod map to draw in an envelope in a similar way to the MSEG that you've already discovered.

cheers,

col
