Don't you mean subtractive synthesis? Does it install a toolbar?

I like your style. I don't worry about the bones and if there is a toolbar installer, then BT NetProtect Plus/McAfee just bats it away and installs the instrument, no sweat.
Cheers, catch you later, when I've had chance to try it.

I suppose the Dev could ask for donations ... but that doesn't bring much (if any) income either. Shrug

Up to 1.45$ per install? Maybe I should also go this way. On 3000 downloads maybe I get one donation for 10$.
If only 30% of them would not click away the toolbar install.....

I have installed and then uninstalled many more synthesis than I chose to buy or use. And I've downloaded many of them several times. I don't think you as a developer can consider number of downloads as your real user base. It is likely much much lower than that.

The toolbar companies pay for the installation of the toolbar. I think it doesn't matter if you uninstall it afterwards. That's what I wanted to indicate. (and that the request for donations is quite futile, so maybe going the adware crap is indeed the better way?)

I don't know, I won't even install something with adware crap Shrug so not like they would get the money anyhow. Actually I prefer to buy plugins if I like them, a good price for an excellent plugin for me is way better than adware. Also there is much to be said for the way someone perceives more value in something that they actually buy vs. receive fom free, unless it is from their grandmother Smile

Basically if you are expecting to get paid for your work, then charge for it. If you make it donation based and don't get donations, well, what to do? The adware stuff is far worse IMO. Either you are in business or you aren't, but don't make it a situation where people have to trust some third party toolbar they never heard of before if they want to support your product.

Anyhow, I don't mean to be a downer so I'll stop Smile my perspective has been aired. Please forgive any offense as it wasn't intentional, just giving some feedback.

I don't know how you see it, but IMO the main purpose of free plugins is that the customer visits the homepage, sees the other (commercial) plugins and purchases one or more of it... Wink

If I'd get the hassle with toolbars on one of your free plugins, I wouldn't purchase the other plugins, either. So you would have one customer less.

In case of Syncersoft I would recommend to sell the (once free) plugins for a smaller fee, for example $5 or so...that's an amount affordable for everyone who is interested in this plugin.
