My entry is in, after a first unsuccessful attempt (I thought it didn't fit the picture very well).
I tried to recreate a plausible soundscape, and a nostalgic mood of a pleasant memory. Not that original, I know, but... that's it Btw, I'll use both tracks on my upcoming EP. Thanks to D.H. Miltz for the very inspirational image! |

The ipad allows us to zoom in to 48p font size so we can actually read it! |

I hear ye old mate Half a pint and it's over for this old fart--my granddaughter turns 22 in August (clue = I am getting V E R Y O L D). I happened by NYC on my way back from Dublin and picked up one of them new iPad-3s. Bloody thing is unbelievable! The ease of zooming/paging is awesome--I have REDISCOVERED comic books! ** I love the weird and interesting theme for this month! I don't have time to participate, but I am moved to listen to some of the wonderful interpretations and will lend me paltry vote to those that inspire. As my grandson might say, "Power On Mighty Rangers!" (whatever that means) Cheers, Ancient Alex |

Another style. Georges Harrisson is here. Georges Martin's sound. Guitars are very interesting, so. And you know that I think well of your voice, James. Offthewall Another musical way again. Only a guitar, a banjo and a singer. I don't understand english lyrics, James, but I'm listenig near you at the corner of the field. Many thanks for the reviews, Daniel Much appreciated.
And ... I know some of you are interested in the video side of things so I did one for this song. It can't affect the judging as it is exactly the same recording as the submission. Hello,
During this contest, I want to only speak about the positive points, imo, of your pieces It's my love and peace month. No criticism, no "Idontlikeyourmix", only "waowitsaninterestingnicething". Cool short review, yes, but with sincerity. Truly. And the next month, only a destructive and humiliating review. Ok, I begin. Farkular White noise (ogg and mp3). It's your piece ? I want to be sure before write a review. Evo2slo. Ok, great, funky. Incredible strain, incredible guitars. Mister Natural Sweet piece. Good mix guitars/keyboards. Nice choice of sounds. Liqih Great talent to create ambient pieces. Peaceful. Hellfog Another world. I like the drum part. Swing beat. Heavy. I like the strange voice (whispering). kryptonaut I like the point 1.00. I like the breath of this piece. It's walking slowly. Miro Good human loops feeling. Very, very nice pads. Yes. Sepheritoh Another style. Georges Harrisson is here. Georges Martin's sound. Guitars are very interesting, so. And you know that I think well of your voice, James. Offthewall Another musical way again. Only a guitar, a banjo and a singer. I don't understand english lyrics, James, but I'm listenig near you at the corner of the field. bzur It's an OST ! I see the picture, I feel the movie, and the samples give an trouble ambient emotion. we walk on the edge of the time. Amazing. |

There was some confusion about making a new account vs. asking Ben for a name change, I think, but I'm hoping to see the entry resubmitted when that's fixed. If you already downloaded it, feel free to hang on to it, and if when you gather the entries together to listen for voting purposes you find you have the same thing twice, one by broodkillphill and one by [?], rest assured no one's trying to pull anything, there's just been a slight mix up. Assuming the entry is resubmitted, votes for broodkillphill will go to whatever the other name is or will be. Does that make sense? Update on this: Ben arranged it so that broodkillphill can remain broodkillphill, and I just noticed that the entry was resubmitted, so all's well as far as this goes. |

On running out of SoundCloud downloads: If this happens, you* will have to upload it somewhere else and put the new link in your post (or have me do it if the thread's locked by that point). The entries need to be downloadable until voting is done, and it's your responsibility to make sure they are (leaving aside something like server trouble on the host's end). Should you need help, feel free to ask, here or by PM. With the volunteer file hosters mentioned in the submissions post, kara-moon, and hosting services like FileDen and Dropbox, it should be easy enough to get it sorted out.
* - Any "you", not just Mister Natural. Last month it happened to someone else. |

short cuts
Farlukar: new genre: rawcore. Evo2Slo: adventurous, a lot of humor, a big dose of glam: wonderful. Mr Natural: great rhythmic structure and transparent mix, ear pleaser. guitar sound gets my love and your voice is special. quite good. Liquih: smooth cluster of sounds. the synths' high tones could be eq'ed a bit. nice experimental valse. Hellfog: quite harmless in the beginning, but then it gets an interesting texture of sounds that bring a lot of suspense. the outro is too long and the 'breathing' can't keep the suspense of the middle part. anyway a strong tune. Kryptonaut: another suspence ladden piece. sparse instrumentation first, a great build up. the voice is perfect. and again. impressive and very well done. Miro: soft grooving melancholy, almost deceptively grooving, because the song lets you sink deeply into a sad mood for a moment at least. the text accompanies the song perfectly. ˇBravo! Daniel Pompougnac: a beautifully evolving melancholical musical landscape. very nice. Sepheritoh and Offthewall: well composed charming song with unwanted vertigo. some elements don't fit well together sonically, especially James' lead vocal needed some reverb to sound more integrated. anyway a keeper. Offthewall: everything fits perfectly here. guitar playing, lyrics and melody are top notch. your voice is uniquely growing old and it sounds good even when it's out of tune. Bzur: strong moody exploration. wise (not only clever) arrangement of different sonic elements and noises and great mix. ˇBravo! broodkillphill: evocative guitar texture. too static drums disturb a bit. quite good anyway. forw: huuuuh deep down and totally forlorn. suicide in the end: the crackles make sense. radical. respect! Oddbod: sonic jewel. everything is where it has to be and as smooth or loud as it has to be. the perfectionist. the chorus melody is nice, the verse melody a bit too stiff in comparison. a beauty! the picture inspired a lot of wonderful music. only keepers yet. ---- "It dreamed itself along" ![]() |
