Not everyone shares any opinion, but I bet a lot of people do agree. The iRig is noisy. Most guitarists in their bedrooms probably can't tell though. Just as many people are satisfied with the quality of mp3's. Not I. 320kbps mp3 files sound fine to me. But the iRig is indeed a noisy little bastard. Especially with high gain amp models and effects. |

I'm using Apogee Jam with AmpKit+ and Jamup Pro.
Apogee Jam is a great interface. Whoever is talking about latency with these must have an older device or trying to run something else in between. There is no noticeable latency when playing with stereo mini plug out to dual RCA's in on a mixer or live to power amplifier. Each program has something to offer in sound design. I'm thrilled at both versions fully upgraded for less cost than my pod 2.0 when I bought it years ago. Haven't tried iRig or any Amplitube stuff. Compared to what is offered in the other two, I don't find it to be as good a value, and frankly I'm somewhat biased against it from running PC versions comparing to Revalver, Guitar Rig, and Overloud. CPU cost was incredibly high and could not pull the sounds I wanted from it unless they were vintage low gain sounds or some clean sounds. It was incredibly noisy too which can happen with all the modelers, but others have implemented better gates. PC preference for ease of use alone, went to Guitar Rig. The right amount of tweaking and I could pull some incredibly responsive, meaty sounds out of it and the Roland Jazz 120 sim was my goto for cleans, but the interface was the simplest to configure and tweak. Have not tried the mobile version yet of Amplitube though. I get all I want right now from the two I'm using, so I probably won't until I hear some outrageously good simulation or they start offering more in the package. ---- "I am a meat popsicle" Soundcloud Vondragonnoggin Soundclick Wormhelmet |

Agogee Jam and Jamup Pro here. Works perfect on my iPad and iPhone. Sometimes on the iPhone I have noise issues, but I found its in the connection. For some reason on my iPhone I really have to push the connector and be sure it's seated right and tight. ---- Macbook Pro: Logic Pro 9 Maschine - MPC Studio - Yamaha P105 Piano - Gibson SG Faded electric - Fender tenor ukelele *****************JUST THE GOOD STUFF!******************** |

Right, we've been using StealthPlug and StealthPedal (as well as various 30-pin connector gear) with GREAT results with AmpliTube 2.5 for iPad and the Camera Connection Kit, and with the new Slash gear being some of the best work we've done it is very satisfying to get better fidelity. |

I'm pretty happy with the peavey amplink kit. My favourite app rightnow is jamup pro. The sound is superb and although amplitube and ampkit also sound very good, the dealbreaker is something very simple: The looper is synchronized to the metronome and it allows for a count in! Not that special, but makes it a LOT more usefull. So take the hint ikmultimedia and agile partners Last edited by buttrock on Sat Jun 16, 2012 11:03 am; edited 1 time in total |

My favorite(s) have got to from JamUp Pro. The Orange AD30 model ...very versatile and great for leads. Then again, I am really getting great rhythm tones from the Plexi, 800, 900, Bogner, and a couple others I can't mention yet. The tweeds and Black Lux are great for my cleans....heck I love them all... |

"Based on" Orange, you mean? That reminds me, we oughta get those official Orange models on AmpliTube iOS soon, since we're authorized to. |

I'm glad JamUp seems to be ruffling some feathers....maybe this will inspire other developers to dig deep into their products and really try and push some quality products out there...instead of just adding more "filler" and "fluff". I'd love for the guitar community to come together as a whole and strive towards greatness. |

I'd be careful dropping the Orange name so much or you might be ruffling the wrong feathers...not that we care. |

ObiK wrote: I'd be careful dropping the Orange name so much or you might be ruffling the wrong feathers...not that we care. I wasn't necessarily talking about you in particular...it was directed more towards guitar apps in general. I own them all..and have spent quite a good chunk of change in the hopes that some would deliver something I could actually use professionally. It was not my intention to take a shot at you or your company and I'm sorry you took offense. I will not name the apps I am referring to because I do not wish to bad mouth other companies. However, since I AM directing this comment to you....this is what I have to say...don't take this the wrong way as this is just my own personal opinion as a professional musician. Let me start by saying that I was very excited when your app came out. The look of it is very pleasing. However, I found the irig connecter to be too noisy (as are most headphone jack adapters). Also, the limited effects that you can use together in a chain was a little disappointing. The clean amps gave good tone and the hi gain roar of the Marshall was great....but it all sounded a little too digital for my taste. The multitrack recorder was a great idea, but every time I would set the metronome and record, the sound of the counter would bleed through in my track....that just won't do. Still I continued to buy additional effects and amps with the new updates in the hopes that these issues would be resolved and where as the sound of the amps did improve a little, the problems I encountered were still there. Please take this as constructive criticism, as that is all it is intended to be. I try very hard not to succumb to petty arguments or involve myself in drama on forums...and I would hope that our conversations would not turn in that direction. I have nothing but best wishes for you and your company and hope that you would feel the same in return. "Ruffling feathers" might not have been the most appropriate description...maybe "shaking things up" would have worded things a little better. In any case, I hope this has cleared the air....now on to more important things...like ROCKING! |

I have not got an iThing except an iPOD classic as it was/is just so I could fit most music on it. I have been tempted to get a fancy iThing but just can not justify the money on one as they seem to get updated to a new shiny version as quickly as I have read up abit on the version that seemed to just of been released. If I were able to chalk one up as a business purchase or got one as part of a working thing kind of deal and that they sorted out updates when new versions came out that would be cool. So honestly I have never tried any of the guitar specific iOS apps let alone many of the regular iOS apps. I fully admitt that it would be bloody great to have one in my pocket with one of the guitar/bass I/O options and one of my guitars on my back as that is obviously so much easier than carting a pedal board, amp head(s), speaker cabinet(s) (and also my own microphones sometimes, depending on what is available to work with) but I just won't know. Hell it shall not be long at all until I can properly demo some of the newer amp rig plug-ins/standalone software tools on my own dedicated audio machine which shall be alot of fun as this shitty laptop I have scraped by on for far too long just can not take the strain of alot of the newer stuff, Let alone use more than an instance in a project/multi-tracked session. The list is pretty big of just amp software (and all the other regular processing plug-ins and effects plug-ins is abit too big to be honest but I do not want to miss out on what I have had to miss out on). If for example I land some work where I make more than I expect and an iThing comes into budget then maybe I might go for one (They do alot of things so its not like I'd be buying one just for audio purposes obviously). I just think Apple should sort the price of thier stuff out, I refuse to pay through the nose for gadgets That has nothing to do with the price of the apps that run on them, They are priced very fairly IMO If Apple were to release an iPad with audio in mind (lets say two 1/4" inputs and outputs, one RCA/phono in/out, Headphone out plus two or three USB ports for both storage and additional I/O and/or MIDI...etc. things), I for one would definately be alot more intrested instead of all the (for want of a better word to describe the workarounds at present) hacks to the little headphone out socket which is used at the moment The friend's I have whom have iThings do not play themselves but are into electronic music and making so I've seen/heard/messed with a few of the synths, drum machines and sample apps which I admitt I had alot of fun with but no geetar stuff Best to all as always Dean ---- What's Your Name Leper? |

Isn't there some kind of vendor announcements forum? That might keep some of the continual use of this forum for free marketing down some.
Would be nice. I notice Agile Partners doesn't get around too often to post about their own products. App kind of speaks for itself, as it should. ---- "I am a meat popsicle" Soundcloud Vondragonnoggin Soundclick Wormhelmet |

I don't think Apple is "pricing them through the nose". You can get a refurbed one for even less. And Apple would never put 1/4" inputs on any of these devices, when it's easily accomplished with a dock or USB connecting device. |

Except that this thread was started by a rep from a company without actually stating so (seems kind of obvious either way) and Agile Partners actually used to find every mention of iRig on Twitter and spam them to the point where many were complaining about it so I wouldn't put them in the "holier than thou" category in the least. |
