Tried watching ST the motion picture last night......got bored half way through and deleted.

Oh......watched "ice age". Wonderful movie!

I love ST:TMP, but then again, I really love the art direction in that film, and the shots of the Enterprise in space are just to die for. Love

Ice Age IS a great movie. Very Happy

I have been known to say st:tmp is my favourite trek movie, seems to expand what went before into a truly cinematic experience. Everything later could have been a tv episode with a bigger budget. I personally like the pacing, I love the first time you see the enterprise. I think it's kirk and scotty in the shuttle just flying around, seems to last forever. Compared to first contact where it's like "there you go, the new enterprise. (e?), flying through a nebula for a few seconds, seen it? good, lets move on..."

Afraid I don't "get" the Ica Age movies at all... I'll watch just about any animated movie in a contented trance (even Madagascar... Smile) but a few minutes of Ice Age has me changing channels. Not sure why, maybe just bad characters I can't feel anything for.

Just watched The Road again. Time for an animated unicorn chaser...

People have different tastes Shrug Frequently, that mean vastly different tastes than I HiHi

I dislike most animated films Laughing Some of the ones I thought were awful are "aliens vs mosters", "despicable me" (ok, I only watched 3 minutes of it before I said ENOUGH!), and "cloudy with a chance of meatballs" and the ever popular "cars". Of course if you go with something like "monsters inc", that was terrific. Also, "up" was absolutely brilliant. Oh course I really liked "horton hears a who" as well. Delightful.

What I like is funny, clever, cute, warm, cuddly (with of course appropriate tragedy). I despise "current pop culture references based on hollywood bullshit/let's capitalize on what is hot currently" versions.

I loved Despicable Me and Monsters, Inc. Smile

I also really liked the first Shrek movie. The second was okay, and I haven't seen the third.

i love ghost in the shell
but i grew up with an aunt and uncle involved in the anime/manga industry, there are so many other anime/manga films/seris i could recommend that i think the amount of text would bring the forum down, so i will say, try to see as much as you can.

full metal alchemist is a good series, highly recommended

blood, the last vampire and v vampire hunter both pretty cool

fist of the northstar gets five stars here (see what i did there)

the evangelion stuff is also great

http://compare.ebay.co.uk/like/220757458672?var=lv&ltyp=AllF ixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&cbt=y

see if you can get hold of this book, not only cos its written by my auntie but also because it will help you find some anime that interests you and also avoid the ones that dont do it for you, theres also the erotic anime guide hehe

have fun Smile

Coppola's Dracula. Holds up surprisingly well. Gary Oldham is simply amazing.

Yeah, Dreamworks go for pop culture references whereas Pixar go for characters and story.

Funily enough agree, with your selections above, MI is my fave pixar, horton was great fun and I definitely didn't tear up at all during Up. No sirree.

Smile

@4lb Kitty: Shrek was great, 2 was nearly as good ("Puss! In Boots!"), 3 was meh (nice use of 'The Immigrant Song' but not much else) and 4.... never bothered.

However, really enjoyed "puss in boots", I guess all the cat stuff (lapping his milk from a glass etc) tipped it for me.

I had forgotten completely that they did a fourth.

I haven't seen Puss In Boots, either.
