I gave them a try. The amps seem to like Les Paul neck humbucker pickups too, which Slash uses quite a bit. Not many ampsims take kindly to the bassier thicker neck pickups on guitars for rhythm chord playing.

I don't understand why some people are calling them "under-gained". Slash doesn't use brutal death metal high gain distortion. He uses more of a slightly overdriven edgier blues sound. His idol is Joe Perry of Aerosmith FWIW. His tone is loud, but not overly high gained and distorted, with a very clear vocal quality to it. Plus of course being in front of a real 100 watt Marshall with the master volume turned up is going to give you all the feedback harmonic sustain you would ever need. Plus the two models respond well to humbucker neck pickups with rhythm playing (something Slash uses a lot), something most other amp sim models fail at.

Thanks for mentioning this. I just tried the "ANGER" model on some old metal tracks and the presets sound phenomenal. I think I'll be picking this one up (virtually) and an Orange amp or two very soon. Probably the Tiny Terror and Thunderverb 200.

I hope you have seen the Southpark episode (Crackbabby Athletic Association, season 15, episode 5) that I got the quote from. It isn't until about the ending third of the episode that they bring him into the storyline. I hadn't really LOLed at Southpark in a while until I saw that episode.

Slash is also the reason I picked up a guitar and started playing.

The Oranges are what got my wallet out first. And the Thunderverb 200 is AMAZING.

The Slash models are easily, easily the best Marshalls in Amplitube, an area where it has been a little weaker than the best-in-class software out there. They've had Fender on lockdown for sound quality and authenticity since Amplitube Fender, and Amplitube 3 improved a heck of a lot of things amp and cabinet-wise, but this is the gold seal of rock n' f'n roll for IKMM Marshall emulation. The AFD/#34 is incredibly legit sounding and the FEEL is awesome. You dig in, it takes off. That's authentic Marshall sound, to me - you gotta play it like you mean it, it's not uber compressed and distorted, it's there for you to rip out of the amp through your own unrestrained playing.

Getting that right in digital is phenomenal. Maaaajor bonus points to IKMM.

Back to the other CS models, though, you're doing yourself no favors if you don't have the Soldano and the Oranges - such awesome sounding amps. And don't forget that the mics, cheap as they are point-wise, nonetheless add compounded versatility to your cabinet emulation setup in an exponential kind of way.

Love the meaty GrooveTubes mic alongside a ribbon or thin condenser, really gets the point across.

Basically IKMM has earned a lot of money from me and the only amps I don't have are the Jet City ones, and that's ONLY because they are really similar to the Soldano anyway, sound-wise, so I just went for the bigger name first. There are some distinctions in the circuits, but if I have to pick (and at that price, I did pick).

The CS-specific Fender models are killer, too. Really, there isn't anything they've done since AT3 that sounds bad. It is all just adding more and more versatility and effective tone shaping to an already kick-ass basic platform. (And AT3 has a TON of gear for a "basic platform," hah.)

That thing sounds pretty close to a Fender Twin Reverb. I like, yes ma'am I do! The high gain on this amp is even sicker than the cleans!

To my ears the new Marshall cabinets sound better (clean/clearer) without any EQing vs. the older 4x12 Closed Modern 1 and Modern 2 cabs.

An old song idea, replaced with the Slash model amps. From clean, crunch to lead gain on (solo guitar track) using an early/mid 90's Les Pual Standard with 490/496 humbucker pickups into IK Multimedia Stealth Pedal. No eq or anything else besides the presets and using mic positioning for natural EQ. A little compression on the bass, drums, and master to smooth things out a bit. Of course he is a huge influence on my playing, and the tone and playing style are close.

What components are those?

Well, I LOVE my first-run regular Tiny Terror, and as far as other Terrors catching my eye (oops ears) I really want the Jim Root version more than the Dark Terror. They are both very nicely-voiced, though. IRL I want the Dual Terror to replace my original though I would likely never sell my ol' Tiny Terror either way. I may consider modding it to have an FX loop, as that seems to be the missing piece in many of these low-wattage amps I've been digging lately.

Agreed mentions that you should play the Marshalls like you mean it and I agree with that - well, I certainly think that many amps have their sweet spot, and for these Marshalls I don't think playing low-key is really that sweet spot (though they have awesome clean sounds too, but you really should still play those with some balls too). Many of the Orange series can be super-aggressive (that real OR120 had ROCKED the office walls like mad when it was in the US office) but they've got some models that are definitely darker, or have more "stoner rock" vibe to them and that is excellent too.
