Latest News: MuTools updates MuLab and MUX VST to 5.1.5

Just been giving this bad boy a whirl and man, I am really impressed! Yes, it is a bummer that I can't use it in the 64bit version of Reaper, so I installed the 32bit version to try it out. Then tried my best to try and crash Reaper but to no avail After piling up 10 tracks of just Mux Synths and Mudrums, it didn't miss a beat. I also added in a ton of per clip fx using Mux effects. This was me noodling around, but I was amazed at how well Reaper was dealing with all the Muxes, as even on my old core2 laptop it was only showing around 20% processor use with all this going on. I guess that since Reaper is so well multithreaded it deals with more Mux goodness than Mulab itself can. I know that on this same laptop, I could not have gotten that same setup working in Mulab. Will next try it on my new Ivy Bridge beast. Have also tried a quick test in Orion 8.5 (32bit) and it worked flawlessly as well. My only comment at this stage is that all Mux floating windows disappear when you click back on the main Mux vst window. Which is not actually a bad thing, just unexpected at first. Is this intentional? Also, I would imagine that a new user would find that going through the presets could be confusing when the MuSynth and Mux ones are mixed together. Obviously they have a very different editing paradigm. Have also noticed that the Mux turns up separately as a VST effect and VSTi, even though they are really interchangeable. I will also do some more testing in Maschine and Studio One , when I get a chance. Overall, I am quite blown away by the potential of the Mux goodness combined with Reapers powerful audio editing abilities...a great combo. I think you are onto a winner here, though I do miss the session Mux |

Yeah, I've never used a host that performs as well as Reaper does. I can't stand the workflow though, so I'm holding out for when MuLab goes multicore.

That's a consequence of Oron's windowing system. FYI: when clicking the main MUX Vst window, Orion activates its main window too which thn comes in front of the other windows. Can't do much about that. Quote: Have also noticed that the Mux turns up separately as a VST effect and VSTi, even though they are really interchangeable.
It's indeed a VST limitation. I was obliged to present MUX Vst as Synth and Effect separately because for example FL Studio is very picky about this. Maybe i could better call them MUX.dll and MUX (Vst Synth).dll This still gives all options, but also leaves a plain polyvalent MUX dll. Thanks a lot for your feedback! |

How about MUX.dll for effect and MUXi.dll or iMUX.dll for synth? |

iMux would probably violate some Apple patent |

It's a matter of time. I'm sorry the OSX version comes later. It's a consequence of Apple being so unfriendly to developers. Therefore it's much harder to find the relevant dev info. And then things are changing all the time. Not an easy platform. But still an important one, so i'll research MUX Vst 4 OSX too! |

tested for a short while here and everything worked fine (although i hosted the plugin in MuLab, which is a bit stupid, but still...). will test in other hosts this week.
made a little post on BPB: http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2012/06/20/mutools-mux-test/ invited people to test and report any issues. |

Works perfect in FL Studio 10 Windows XP SP2 32 bits version.
No problems so far. Even saving presets in FL format recalls totally the effect and the parameters. What a great work. A BIG arsenal. The drum machinne is amazing. Put a compressor in the output and BOOM. Have a good day. |

iMux would probably violate some Apple patent ---- MuLab 4, Studio One v2. In that order. |

where can i buy it? How do you use it? To get sidechain? I haven't used the mux editor before apart from some ten min testing.. ---- Mulab-MUX-Diversion-TX16Wx-SKNOTE-Charlatan-Valhalla-GordonSmith-YamahaTHR10-Trackspacer-TheDrop/Glue-Drumaxx-VOS-DC8C [i5 2500K @ 4,3GHz] [8Gb DDR3] [200Gb+ SSD][M-Audio Delta 24/96 PCI] |
