Notfolk (Some noises made from an abandoned contest idea.)
2:49 / 4MB mp3 (192) or 3.5MB ogg (6)

mp3 . . . . . . . ogg

Used: MU.LAB, Anvil, Sampletron, Angstrolooper, Voxengo Recorder, Oxygen 49, Telecaster, then Audacity, SPEAR, and Mammut. Oh, and a little bit of Photosounder and a photo.

Two short saz improvisations. Trying to get a feel for playing and recording it, ideally while holding it in a manner not ruinous to my neck.

sazbit1
1:10 / 1.6MB mp3 (192) or 1.5MB ogg (6)

mp3 . . . . . ogg

sazbit2
0:54 / 1.2MB mp3 (192) or 1.1MB ogg (6)

mp3 . . . . .ogg

Used: MU.LAB, Audacity, EasyQ, Eos, dlM sixtyfive, Roundtone, saz.

Nice spooky atmosphere on track 1.

Saz1 has a lovely bluesy vibe.

Saz2 gets the organic folk thing flowing quite well.

Enjoyed 'em all, thanks!

Beautiful work on the saz, what a great sound it has.

And Notfolk - That's what I'm talking about !! Smile Composition develops nicely, shifts neatly, it's an excellent piece. Sounds and audio quality are first-rate to my ears.

Thanks for the good vibrations.

Best,

dp

sazbits - This instrument sounds like a cross between a guitar and sitar. Both pieces sound like something that Ry Cooder might play.

NotFolk - A lovely soundscape that I got a very strong SF feeling from. Maybe OST soundtrack for an abandoned spaceship scene. Decidedly creepy.

Good work Smile

All quality stuff. Notfolk is suitably disturbing, and extremely haunting.

I would love to see your Saz work going through some distortion too. It has to! Very Happy

Thanks very much, everyone.

tehlord, I think you're right about the saz and distortion. I'll have to play around with that.

"Notfolk" = scary. (in a good way!) Great sound you achieved here.

SAZ? I'm not sure what instrument that is. I'll have to google it in order to educate myself. Your tracks sound great!

Did you ever hear David Torn with his electric oud? That was interesting.

I never did, but I'm looking into it now. Looks to be someone worth checking out. Thanks.

Saz improvs are very pretty. Lovely instrument that.

Notfolk is ace. Initially sounds like a brass band having a nervous breakdown due to the impending arrival of the FFT demons who then have a party upon their arrival at 0:50.

Thanks, cron. I owe my acquaintance with Mammut to you, so thanks for that as well.
