DCAM Synth Squad Strobe - great for basses.

Also it depends if you know preset programming. If yes then most modern synths are capable - I would add some good virtual analog synth. ie. Diva or some less CPU intensive plugin (Saurus).

But overall I would focus on third party soundbanks, sample libraries. If you have Nexus, Massive, Sylenth etc. then you really dont need new synths. Just buy some soundbanks for Sylenth, Massive - there are plenty of such stuff available (Rob Lee, Xenos Soundworks, my - designasound.com, CFA Sound and tons of other)

I'd have to add Razor to this. And Predator. Predator can 'do' almost anything.

sorry, for saying things how they are...! what sort of sounds are you after, you're description 'progressive' is quite vague and can be answered with any synth.

I think Cypher is great and 'softer' sounds can be made by turning down the drive into the filters, lessening any 'noise' sources and generally rolling off the top end or notching out the 'harsh' frequencies if you would still have any. To say Cypher is not good for prog is crazy - but - I would say that Strobe (also part of DCAM) would likely be a better starting point for 90% of your bread and butter sounds.. So in summary, you could make Prog music with only DCAM.

Massive has also been mentioned, this is another very flexible synth, very easy to use and great to controls with it's macro's.

U-he ACE is a great value synth that would open up a wider range of sounds and be a good compliment to one of the first two.

What you call as "saying things how they are" I know by a word called impatience.
Please educate me if you really think that I don't know how to use Cypher instead of calling me lame. Ok?
I've been doing this stuff for almost 20 years but I am always willing to take lessons from anyone who can teach me something new.

I also think that you might have somehow confused me to the original poster as I haven't even mentioned what kind of sounds I want to make with DCAM.

And where did I say that prog house can't be made with DCAM?
I only said that I like it for agressive sounds. Please don't put words into my mouth.

I don't know if I expressed myself clearly enough, but I really tried to say that DCAM bundle is worth the money. Cypher is the only VSTi that I have setup being on the default project file I use.

I am going to mess around with the Cypher settings you mentioned so I can see if I get softer sounds out of it that I actually want to use on my tracks. But in the meanwhile I stand on by what I said: I like Cypher for agressive sounds.

If all the synths were cabable of doing almost any sound out there, no one of use would be owning multiple products.

Please don't insult people just if they have a different opinion than yours.
