Guys weird little problem, can anyone else confirm?
If i save a song in logic with a preset any third party soundbank ( i bought the rob lee and vengeance ones ages ago) and i reload the song, it says "init patch" even though the preset sound is correct. Sigh... that's a bit frustrating... I'll see if i can work around it with preset saving.. Also, i got to say, i disagree about sylenth's bass. That's where i have ALWAYS thought sylenth was weak - average.. Dune's is punchy and crispy. That said.. i have been spending the same amount of time tonight auditioning sylenth presets one by one, and geez you sylenth fans ( i also am a fan), ARE RIGHT, it's bloody gorgeous sounding isn't it!!! No wonder it is SO popular the arps and pads are better than Dune especially for chord sequences.. in dune's chord mode i always hear a single note at the start of the arp cycle before it goes into chords.. that's not ideal.. yes it's the latest 1.42 in logic 9.1.7 ---- Upping my count for Kingston |

Having said what I said about the bass, anyone who wants to know what a professional can do with it (dance wise) should check out the demos on refx, vengeance soundsets, really, reaally loud and very punchy. They are good that's for sure.
Basically so many synths can do so many things, it mostly comes down to mixing, but certain synths do things in a certain way, right? DUNE is lovely for all the reasons everyone already said. I also am sure it is a very, very popular synth, as in a lot of people own it. ---- Aiynzahev-sounds Resonance Sound Sound Designer - Soundsets for Massive, LuSH, DIVA, DUNE, Sylenth and others |

bought it during sale and to be honest ... i don't use it. I prefer Sylenth much more. I prefer sound more (bright & crisp and unison is just great without doing anything), simplicity, gui and yea, hundreds of banks it isn't Sylenth replacement, it's just an interesting synth having different strengths than Sylenth. ---- Soundbanks: Sylenth, V-Station, Z3TA+, Toxic Biohazard - good EDM Soundbanks VST Cafe - music production blog |

no it's not a sylenth replacement, it's just a nice va in the league of sylenth that sounds a bit different, and i guess i wanted to know why it didn't take off as hard as sylenth ---- Upping my count for Kingston |

DUNE's edge is the detune, which is great. And the arp, which can be sent to individual oscillators(are you listening Cakewalk Z3ta crew?)
I don't like the filter layout, and I've told Richard as much, plus I want a separate chorus effect - not the chorus/phaser combo. But I can't wait to see what's in store. Free patches on my website also. Click the www in my sig. File at bottom of page. |

For some reason Soundcloud added some rumble/scratching type of sound in the second two sweeps that definitely wasn't there in the .Wav, nor when I converted it to MP3 with WinLame. So just disregard that. http://soundcloud.com/jimmigruen/sweep First is Dune, second is Sylenth1 and finally the Virus TI Listen especially in the beginning (filter open) how different they are. Clearly if I spent more than 1 minute I could make Sylenth1 sound exactly like the Virus. I could probably get close with Dune too, but it seems to take more effort. I'm finding many other uses for Dune though, so it's not "bad", just different. @ JimmiG - Exactly why I will always reach for Sylenth first over Dune. ---- If you read the constitution, You hear better http://soundcloud.com/section-d-records www.soundclick.com/theresistanceband |

Dune sounds not like the Virus. I could never match it.
Sylenth and Zebra are close (Ana too, but to be honest I have not recreate sounds with Ana to compare them exactly with the Virus so this could be wrong). |

Another Dune fan here however wouldn't say it sounds 'better' than a Virus or Sylenth - just different. I particularly like how the filters sound on pads. Not a massive fan of the bass patches but I am sure you could make something nice from scratch on Dune if you had the time/inclination. ---- Eye of the Beholder (Ulrich Schnauss Remix) - http://soundcloud.com/kindred-sounds/kriece-pres-shamatha-eye-of-1 http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kriece/15099440441?sk=app_178091127385 http://soundcloud.com/kriece |

I'm not a fan of the Virus sound, too harsh. That's why I prefer Dune over Sylenth, "smoother" sound. Both are excellent tough. |
