I hope you don't remove all the filter types? They have all their uses and sound great imo! The old drive filter is completely unique for example The only filter I rarely (never?) use is the formant filter. Cheers Dennis We'll probably move them to 64 bit processing and oversample them. Which, after 10 years, should be okay. The formant filter may see a replacement in the final implementation of the Resonator module. Not sure yet. Or Maybe I dig out the old original modes from Zoyd. That would require to resuscitate the old G4... trance_lucent wrote: 1. I think some kind of "Render Osc FX to waveform" feature would be cool. Sometimes there is a lack of additional FX slots in the OscFX section. For example, I can use some FX to sculpt sound, but I need some modulated FX to add motion. So I would use "render fx" to inprint FX int the waveform forever, and use other FX dynamically.
Very nice ideas! Especially the first one! 2. Easier request: Some kind of "Colour EQ" Osc FX: it change overall spectral slope of the sound. For example, it allows to make usual sawtooth sound like impulse train, and vice versa. Range can be -6db/octave to +6db/octave (or, if combine with usual filters, it is possible to restrict range to -3...+3). 3. XMF structure improvement request: may be it is worth to made separate "drive" parameter for each filter in series? Sometimes usual Virus scheme sounds good in Zebra (Filter->Overdrive->Filter), but I need to spend both XMF for that, or use Filter->Overdrive->Filter->Overdrive scheme, which sounds good, but often too aggressive. tectonica wrote: Urs wrote: The main reason for the clean cut is the waveform editing and frequently requested features such as Arpeggiator presets which are simply too tedious to implement in the current structure. As you speak about preset-management for the Arpeggiator: would it be maybe possible to bring something like this for example for the Zebra3-effects? To have presets for the fx-modules, as we know it from the effect-modules of any sequencer? So that one could step throgh different fx-settings within Zebra3 without having to turn every knob from zero? This could maybe be an inspiring soulution. We'll try to have presets for the whole FX-Grid. If that's too difficult then we'll have presets per fx. |

I don't know if you can answer this yet, but when Zebra 3 eventually comes out, will it be backwards compatible with Zebra 2 patches? There is so much great stuff available for Zebra 2. Looking forward to it in any case! Not quite ... Thanks for all of that info, Urs. To the future of Zebra! ![]() |

I agree the functional design of Zebra is one of the primary things that makes it great, so it shouldn't be changed.
On the GUI topic though, I'm a big proponent of sliders. An increase in vertical and horizontal sliders could bring a highly functional fresh look to Zebra, without changing the basic functional layout of the modules or sections. The move to touch interfaces is an additional compelling reason to give it consideration! ---- Crime in multi-storey car parks. Hi Urs,
Will the new GUI be re-sizable, just like Zebra2? I love this feature, please don't lose it! |

We reckon that retina displays are the future, so we're preparing for a much vaster range of resolutions than before. |

Hey Urs, Jayney Klimek is your wife? I seem to remember that name from somewhere.... didn't she do the soundtrack to "Lola Rennt" with Tom Tykwer?
This has nothing whatsoever to do with Zebra's GUI, but... enquiring minds want to know! |
